David Coote should be no where near a VAR screen again and
instead be learning on what constitutes serious foul play.
Scandalous that he hasn’t given anything for Lo Celso’s assault
on Azpilicueta.
Here comes my usual spiel on why officials on the field should
be allowed to use the monitor. Until Riley is disposed from
office this sort of ridiculous scenario will never stop.

Gaurentee that if oliver looks at that on a monitor, he issues a
red card.

Agreed.
Should Oliver have been picking it up anyway?
Why have an inexperienced referee on VAR AON a huge game this
like. Riley needs to come out and take responsibility.
Poor from Oliver to not even issue a yellow!

Absoulutely Unbelieveable, they are a laughing stock.
"statement from PGMOL on why that wasn't a red card... Not a
clear and obvious error because the VAR didn't feel there was
anywhere else for Lo Celso to put his foot."
Then the bufoons at the top try and justify it and prove them
selves INEPT.

PGMOL have just announced that they now believe it should have
been a red card and was human error.
God help us.
Whats the point of having VAR if it makes a mistake in not
correcting a clear and obvious error.
Also I think we know the real reason refs arent going to the
monitors is they can hide behind the 'trainees' in Stockley
Park.
VAR and the PGMOL will be the ruin of football as we used yo
know it.

Surely another strong case for using pitch side monitors. Oliver
has done so before and issued a red as a result. Make the
onfield ref ultimately responsible for the decision if a
possible error has been raised by VAR. Then any accusations of
blaming inexperienced refs at Stockley Park - something which I
don’t actually agree with - don’t come into it.
If reluctance to use them is still Riley’s decision then it’s
deplorable. Did he not watch the 2018 World Cup Final - Yes, the
most important match in world soccer - where a pitch side
decision was made? If it’s good enough as they say..........

Just read about the VAR controversy and why was I not suprised
when I found out VAR was David Coote. He was below average as a
referee on EFL at best and I was surprised he managed to get
SG1. Why are they unable to promote the best or better referees
by distinguishing what many of us can see and what they can’t?!

Truly staggering, he looks at a replay at least 20 times and
still can't come to the right decision. I hope that
retrospective action is taken. It's alright to say it doesn't
matter now Chelsea won, but a 3 game ban matters for matches
coming up!

I'm not surprised Oliver missed it in that situation, and that's
not a case of defending 'the golden boy'. Or perhaps you have
superb eyesight and called it n real time.
Even with replays, we had one commentator saying 50/50 and Peter
Walton opining it wasn't a RC. Amazing how he changed his tune
when the PGMOL statement came out.
That statement while the game was still in progress amazes me.
If word reached the officials on the field, how could it affect
them?
Personally, I agree with those who say that if VAR believes it
could, rather than certainly, be a RC, then he ought to advise
the Referee to check the monitor. There is then no doubt who is
making the final decision.
