Unfortunately the game, quite correctly, was abandoned due to a
medical emergency.
Thoughts I'm sure from everyone here to the member of the crowd
affected and their family.

Looked awful. Not often that you will see an air ambulance land
on a football pitch. Sounds like it was a great response from
both medical teams until the ambulance & air ambulance arrived
so credit to them. Also credit to both teams and the supporters
who acted so respectfully. Wishing the gentleman a full and
speedy recovery, thoughts with him & his family.

Since you asked, Saturday will be Kettle's 12th Rochdale match.
Others have refereed many more.
[/quote]
How did Kettle get on? Thirty five fouls awarded in the game, 5
cards and a penalty. Sounds eventful.

It wasn't really. He was absolutely fine and was hardly noticed.
The penalty was correct and the yellow cards were correct - one
of them would probably have been a red from Kettle of old - so
any pre-conceptions of him from others were slightly misplaced.

Another red card from Charles Breakspear at Southend.

Lol.
It has gone very quiet on the red card front from the EFL's
newly crowned card shark.... was it deserved?

Re : Lee Swabey at Gillingham v Peterborough on Saturday.
Re : The laws of the game - if you stop the game because a
player is injured, the game should restart with a drop ball from
where the ball was when the referee stopped the game - Correct?
Because it didn't happen on Saturday the drop ball was taken
from where the injured player was!.
Also couldn't understand how when two Peterborough players
collided heads both had to leave the pitch after treatment but
one was allowed to immediately return while the other was told
to wait?

When I watched Argyle Blackpool, a different although not too
disimilar incident happened. There was a clash between the
keeper and a striker, both recieved treatment, but the striker
didnt leave the field of play? Rule Change?

If two players of the same team collide and need attention there
is no requirement for them to leave the field of play.
Complicating features could be the length of the stoppage (once
assessment has been completed but more treatment is required,
which can be completed off the pitch, one or both could be
required to leave) and the presence of blood, which could
require the injured player to be checked by a match official
before returning to the field of play.
If a goalkeeper and an outfield player collide there is no
requirement for them to leave the field of play.
These are not a recent changes.
