Darren England: Northampton v Derby

Lots of rejoicing on this site that Mr England has been given a
recent PL debut and seems destined for higher things but.......
I think tonight we have seen the most shocking (non) decision of
the season when Goode hauled back Marriott with an arm round his
neck while clean on goal and England gave.......nothing, not
even a free kick when a foul and red card were clearly the order
of the day.
I am sure I will have stirred up the Darren England fan club who
will be out in force will excuses like he was unsighted, the
assistant had a better view etc. Sorry, it doesn’t wash for me -
if this ref is being pushed for regular PL games and possibly
FIFA status then awful decisions like this need eradicating
quickly

Unbelievable decision to not even award a free kick and
subsequently send off the Cobblers defender Charlie Goode
tonight, if Mr England wasn't in a good position his AR was. He
shouldn't have even had to revert to VAR, if it was available,
to award and sanction that one.

He also failed to award the most blatant penalty last week
during the Saints v Wolves game where VAR bailed him out and he
certainly wasn't unsighted then

A shocking decision IMO don’t get how he doesn’t even see that
as a foul has a big game at Leeds on Tuesday night so hopefully
is much better than the past two weeks

A shocking decision indeed although he did seem to be some way
behind play. The assistant should have had a clear view though
so why no help from him?

I thought for a moment I was watching highlights from Franklins
Garden and not Sixfields. Poor from a usually better referee

The Saints were also live on BT Sports at the same time just a
mile down the road (BOGOF deal apparently), Charlie Goode
probably forgot which channel he was on... ;D

I do have some sympathy. At the start of the move he has had to
check back to avoid getting mixed up in play and then the ball
is quickly played forward, so his distance from the incident can
certainly be forgiven. Also doesn't help that the pull back is
on the far side to the assistant so pretty much impossible for
him to give.
It's obviously a clearly wrong decision, but I always try to
look at why it might have happened and there are extenuating
circumstances here.
