VAR - Spurs vs. Brighton

Kane scores mid-way through the first half, goal overturned
after some 2 minutes (yes TWO MINUTES), for his armpit being
offside. Talk about looking for it from the VAR team. Even the
assistant referee shook his head slightly because he knew Kane's
body was onside and dead in-line. Hard to understand this as a
clear and obvious error.
Winks penalised for no contact on reflection on Schelotto and
booked, leading to Brighton's first goal. Why does VAR not
check the decision to give the FK after the goal's been scored?
Clearly this is a clear & obvious error leading to a
match-changing event?
Winks brings down Gross on the edge of his own box in the second
half, clear yellow card not given. Did Mr Scott realise he was
wrong to award a FK and yellow in the first half to Winks one
wonders?

Do you actually know how it works? Offside is black and white,
there is no concept of clear and obvious, you are on or off.
VAR cannot check a free kick that leads to a goal, they can only
check what happens after the free kick has been taken.

Winks should have received a red card as he was guilty of at
least two fouls after his yellow card. Clearly there must be a
conspiracy against Brighton.

I really can't understand all the moaning ---VAR Rules and is
ALWAYS correct. It is the future of football at the top level.
Thank goodness that there is plenty of other football to watch!

If I had even a single forint for the amount of times that has
been pointed out on here to no avail I'd be able to able to buy
half of Hungary by now!! (exchange rate 350Ft to £1!)

Ok so clear & obvious does not apply to offside, why are all of
these good goals being ruled out by VAR then? Their imaginary
lines, where a hand or hair molecule is offside, magnifying in
to mm to see anything that's offside, spending 2-3 minutes to
decide, then inevitably ruling the goal out. What exactly is
being achieved here? Fans hate it, assistant referees hate it,
it's against the spirit of the game, and good goals are being
ruled out because whilst their bodies are invariably onside, a
part of their body such as a hand or a hair molecule isn't!
It's not football anymore.

Just being pedantic, their hand can be offside all day long & it
not make a jot of difference - it's only parts of your body that
you can legally score a goal with that count as to whether it's
offside or not. Other than that I agree with the sentiment!
If VAR is to be used to determine offside then perhaps IFAB need
to rewrite Law 11 in order to find a better compromise (not sure
that's the word I'm looking for but it will have to do) between
upholding the spirit of the game & following a strict
interpretation of the LOTG if that makes sense - if not tough, I
know what I mean! ;D

But they're ruling goals out when a hand is offside. You have
to give the benefit with the attacker were it's too close to
call. Graeme Souness came up with an interesting point - if any
part of your body is onside, rule should be re-written to allow
the goal, might this work better, quicker and easier to spot?
