8 yellows from Kettle at Northampton... that's 19 yellows and
two reds in two games from him...

The point is that over the years empirical and statistical
evidence suggests Mr Kettle cautions more players than other
referees. With the average per game usually around 3 to have
issued so many in 2 games is worthy of comment. Likely they were
all correct and highlight more that players can be idiotic at
times, as they know how he is and could/should adapt their
behaviour

I don't think Anthony Backhouse would have done his chances of
moving onwards and upwards much good with his ridiculous
decision to award Fleetwood a penalty v Sunderland. If that was
a foul, we might as well all pack up and go home. The second
time this season that Anthony has done this (can't remember the
details of the previous award but Lincoln comes to mind), and I
hope that someone will have a word in his ear before long as he
is a promising ref.

Hold on, Joey Barton said it was definitely a penalty...

For the disliker ..... not quite sure what you are disliking,
Kettle, his performance or that someone felt it was worthy of
comment ??? If the final thing I think that 21 (possibly 22 or
23) festive cards in two matches is, whilst not totally
surprising, worthy of note. Well done Trevor, you can catch that
upstart Alan Young yet !

As we had Alan Young instead of Chris Pollard at Salford, since
he has come on to the list we have had him officiate us in 6
away games but he has never been to the Banks's Stadium.

Whenever Kettle is put down to officiate, the players must know
given his card shark reputation that they have a better chance
of getting opposing players binned for idiotic behaviour as a
reaction to niggly challenges and pushes, as RCG quite rightly
illustrates.
