I'm not sure if this is agaist the policy here. But look at
       Bobby Madley's Facebook page.....
The new FIFA ref looks a lot like Bobby.

Bobby has just posted this on his twitter page:
"Delighted to have just found out that my big brother and best
mate Andy has just been accepted onto the FIFA Referees List for
       2020!! Congrats big man!!"
Like spk, I'm not sure if this should be posted unless it's
official. Mods delete if not appropriate.

I thought a referee had to complete a full year in the top
division before being promoted to FIFA? Although I suppose he
did referee a few games last December.
I rate Andy Madley highly and hope he'll soon get a few more PL
       games!
I wonder who else will be joining him. I'd expect Coote to.

Well it will be good to get England's FIFA Referees number up to
the allotted capacity and without wishing to rain on anyone's
parade ( and apologies for sounding like a grumpy, nostalgic old
git ) but years ago a FIFA badge was the highest honour and many
very good referees never attained one; now it appears that if
you're the right age they come up with the rations.
If you attain SG1 at the right young age ( a feat in itself
admitedly ) then it seems impossible to avoid having to sew ( or
is it stick ? ) a FIFA Badge on your shirt after a year or so.

The fact there are only six English referees currently on the
FIFA list would suggest it's not that easy!

Entirely down to poor succession planning. Once this SG malarkey
came into being ( you can tell I prefer the old days of a
National List covering all 4 Divisions ) it is then imperative
to get age relevant referees up into the SG1 category before
they are time-expired for joining FIFA. This has significantly
       failed to happen.
I'm sure Coote will get a FIFA badge but imo he is nothing
better than a decently average referee. The lowering of the FIFA
joining age over the years does seem to have caught the English
       authorities out.
I hope to see Rob Jones on SG1 soon; I believe he has the
potential to be a very good international referee, quite
possibly attaining Elite Category. Do I think Attwell will
attain Elite? no; Coote no, Pawson no, Kavanagh maybe.

That always seemed to be the case prior to and following the
Stuart Attwell exception. At least Andy Madley had a few PL
       appointments prior to this season.

He reffed 2 PL games last season and has only done 3 PL games
this season (same as Simon Hooper!!). Not exactly great
foundations for promotion to FIFA and, as many have said on the
appointments threads, “what does he need to do to get a PL
game”. Clearly it doesn’t matter anymore

Given his brother's spectacular fall from grace, he was always
in line to get a shiny white badge to replace him.
As has been alliterated here, if you can get on SG1 before the
age of 35 you are guaranteed a FIFA badge, irrespective of
       ability.
Riley needs to get some SG2 to experience the top flight in
trial games, although the amount of dross in there at present
makes that difficult, aside from the likes of Jones and England.

West Riding FA have tweeted their congratulations so I guess the
news is true, if a little unexpected!
As for the future, I think (and always have thought!) that the
SG2 should be a supplementary panel, with 3/4 refs refereeing a
handful of PL games each season. Look at Peter Bankes. Promoted
without a single PL game under his belt - that could've been a
       big mistake!
Definitely time to freshen up SG1 and the thinking behind the
appointments - best way to improve standards is to keep referees
       on their toes!
