Sounds like the VAR chaos continues!
Question mark over whether Tottenham's equaliser late on was
handball or not. Goal originally given. VAR looked it and a
message on the scoreboard said 'No Goal' but the goal was in
fact given.
Seems like perhaps the referee was told one thing and the wrong
information was communicated to the crowd?

I still don't understand why that clown Riley is insisting
officials are not allowed to utilise the pitch side monitor.
A FIFA referee in Kavanagh is relying on a SG2 official's
'opinion' in deciding whether a goal should or should not be
awarded, seemingly without permission to view any additional
footage himself from Lord high and mighty Riley.
It is a clear and obvious error to allow the goal to stand. As
for the confusion with the display board, I would suggest that
the person flicking that button ( if not Brooks or the AVAR) has
more knowledge of the game that a SG2 official responsible for
'deciding'.
Complete trash as far as im concerned.

Not the first time Watford have lost 2 points based on a VAR
decision. Supposed to be solving controversy instead it’s
increasing it.
Time to get rid! :-X

All that's needed is for the refs shorts to be round his
ankles (a la Brian Rix) and it could be a good old Whitehall
farce!

It again indicates how much better communication would be if
referees were mic'ed up so we could hear them. Currently there
are two different methods of communication going on - one with
referee and one with supporters. When they are not in accord it
becomes farcical.
Ideally I think the PGMOL should release audio conversation
retrospectively in this isntance. Some people are going down the
route that Kavanagh misheard the VAR - I don't imagine that was
the case but transparency would help to clear it up for sure.
I think it would also have been better in this instance for
Kavanagh to go and look at the decision which would have added a
bit more credibility and made the process clearer. As it was, it
seems they kick-ed-off with some people still not knowing what
had happened.

I cannot for the life of me see why the VAR John Brooks allowed
Ali’s goal to stand ithe ball clearly makes contact with his
upper arm , the VAR should also have awarded Watford a penalty
I’m sorry but VAR is posing more questions than answers about
its use at least as far as penalties are concerned not a week
goes by without it being a talking point rather than the
football itself - at least we accept that on field referees make
mistakes but when you have the VAR un the booth seeing camera
angles showing the ball clearly hits the hand you expect him/her
to get it correct it’s just indefensible on this occasion

The problem isn't VAR though. VAR in itself is a wonderful
invention, as witnessed in Rugby, Cricket etc. The problem is
UEFA, the problem is PGMOL, the problem is IFAB or whatever the
rules body is abbreviated to. Clearly the level needed to
overturn any decision is so magnificently high, that Concorde
wouldn't have even been able to reach it. There will come a
point in the next 1-2 years where they finally realise this and
change it. Until such a time unfortunately VAR will continue to
be in the firing line and the mockery of the game will continue.

MOTD thought the correct decision was made regarding the Spurs
goal.
I can understand why the VAR might have had doubt about which
part of the body that it came off.
I can't understand why he didn't give Watford a penalty though
(aside from the fact that VAR doesn't seem to give penalties in
England.)]
