D MAKKELIE - England v Spain

Although he's not had much to do, I cannot fathom how Henderson
was carded for what looked liked only a slight touch on the
Spanish player, yet Trippier wasn't carded for his dive in that
took out I think Rodrigo on the far side.
A good game nonetheless but Makkelie does seem to be
inconsistent.

Henderson's was a mandatory caution for stopping a promising
attack, the opponent was running away from him and he cynically
took him out. Tripper perhaps a tad lucky to avoid a caution.

Let's hope Shaw is ok after his x rated collision with Carvajal.
Looks pretty serious and coupled with the fact Sky aren't
showing replays it doesn't look good.

Ridiculous card for Stones awarded after he won the ball
clearly. Even worse was the lack of help from Blom behind the
goal.
Not convinced at all by Makkelie this evening. He was earmarked
as the Kuipers replacement and although he is miles better than
his predecessor Nijhuis, this is not a performance of the
desired quality at this level.

Some baffling second half decisions, although I'm not sure
Makkelie was behind them. First was the Stones foul and
caution, but I'm sure the AAR gave that as there was a very long
delay be the referee.
Last minute disallowed goal, again I think the AAR has got
involved. If it is for a foul on De Gea that is ridiculous as
there is no way that was a foul. If it was for Welbeck pushing
the defender I'd be more supportive, but I'm struggling to see
how the AAR could have seen that and Makkelie showed no
indication initially that he wasn't happy with the goal.

Think that's looking at excuses for the referee that is a bad
error from a FIFA ref and was a clear goal. Mistake by the GK

Sunday Times suggests that Welbeck deliberately stepped into De
Gea's path as he went for the ball and De Gea then spilled the
ball after colliding with Welbeck. Soft but correct decision in
their view. Hmmm, not sure I agree, and at that level, De Gea
should not be spilling the ball for any reason. Either way, I
agree the ref seemed totally unsure what to do next and relied
on the AAR for help. A poor end to the game on his part.

And definetely not a performance on kuipers level.
