The only bad game he has had rcently was at selhurst park a few
weeks ago. He has been fairly aolid since then

My point still stands though he hasn't really done too much
wrong in that game and all the other games he reffed this season
outside of that game at Selhurst park. I think he's ok to do the
man united v arsenal game.

Let’s face it, mid table Man Utd v Arsenal is not a “top 6
encounter”. Pretty run of the mill to be honest

I'd agree Manchester Untied V Arsenal is not the fixture it once
was. I'd have rather it went to one of the up and coming
referees personally rather than Friend.
Am I right in thinking that Kavanagh has yet to referee Man City
or Man Utd, even though he has been a Fourth Official/VAR on
several of their matches? I wonder if the situation is similar
to Mike Dean with Liverpool/Everton who has been FO and a VAR
for their games over recent years but very seldom refereed
either.

With Mike Dean reluctant to use VAR when he's in the middle, it
will be interesting see how he deals with respective penalty
claims by both teams.

He doesn't seem any more or less reluctant to use VAR than any
other SG referee - indeed he was the referee for the first game
where it was used in the Premier League.

Well, I don't see why they'd bother to make a change just for
that. It's not like Everton V Man City especially warrants a
specific VAR and whilst Marriner is more experienced as a
referee than Kavanagh they probably have similar experience as
VARs.
The most likely reason would seem to be that Marriner's not in a
position to referee today for whatever reason (injury?) but can
be a VAR.

Maybe the PGMOL decided they didn't want Andre to referee
Chelsea, and wanted Chris to do so instead?
