Will Finnie - Argyle vs Oldham

On Saturday, I watched my third "newbie" of the Season, and he
probably rates as the 2nd best of the three.
Will Finnie, overall was fine, but a few decisions were wide of
the mark. One in particular, was the failure to send off an
already booked player, one of those which would probably of been
given by most referees. Some of his foul detection and
consistency was lacking, but I feel that this is likely to come
with experience. Definately has got a promising future ahead of
him at this level, and look forward to hearing about his
       progress.
Sam Purkiss was definately the best so far, with his very
promising performance vs Salford, although he lost it a little
late on but this was understandable with by the far the biggest
crowd he'd refereed in front of at that point, bearing down his
       neck.
Josh Smith's performance is well documented on this site, and I
hope to hear positive reports of improvements over the next few
       weeks.

I have seen all three, Purkiss, Finnie and Smith on their rise
up through the ranks. All three have considerable potential and
from what I have seen I think Finnie is the most likely to 'hit
the heights' closely followed by Purkiss. That's probably the
kiss of death to their careers ! I know Smith was very highly
       regarded by Match Observers.

So it would appear from what was written on here. However, there
would only be one Observer whose opinion will count as to future
progress and in the past it is among that group of Observers
       where Smith was highly rated.
A difficult start at a new level is never good but I remember
that in his first match on the Football League, Peter Jones was
slated by the press and he didn't go on to have too shabby a
       career.
Let us hope that the 'newbies' soon find their feet and
establish themselves at this new level.
