       The VAR thread

Probably about time we had a thread over here.
Don't think there was too much to note from the recent League
       Cup games.
Telegraph reporting that VAR will be tested across all Saturday
3pm games in the Premier League on September 15th to ascertain
their ability to cope on a busy Saturday afternoon with multiple
matches but obviously VAR won't affect the actual decisions in
this case and they won't be communicating with the on-field
       officials.
Could be interesting to see who is left off the list
appointments for that Saturday as presumably they will want
current SG referees plus possibly Swarbrick/Jones to be used.

I would have thought that they won't be enough officials to
fulfill the fixtures across the board if SG1/2 for example are
used as board duties in the top flight to cover VAR when it's
fully operational. NL officials would then be needed to
       supplement the championship.

Just the one decision would have been changed apparently -

So they wouldn't have disallowed David Silva's goal for handball
       in the same game then?

As the ball clearly bounced up and is controlled by Silva on the
       chest, no.

There is a Douglas Costa VAR incident that is doing the rounds?
       I haven't seen it yet.

Is that of him spitting into an opponent's mouth? Just vile.

I can't watch the video - the photos made me feel sick. What a
vile, disgusting thing to do! Hope he gets a long ban for it,
apart from being vile, it's a health hazard.

VAR is to be used for six matches in the next round of the
League Cup - the games at Manchester United, Wolves, Liverpool,
       Arsenal, West Ham and Everton.
I don't think the refereeing appointments have been made yet
though? Will be interesting to see if every SG referee is used
as both referee and VAR for such games across the season.
