Ramsgate Steamers?

So, a team from Ashford(!), that currently ground shares at
Hythe, is going to share at Southwood next year and change
their name to "Ramsgate Steamers". ::) Who thought that one
up? Does this mean that any 1st teamers that are coming back
from injury/suspension will turn out for them, or anybody that
looks good from them will get a run out in the 1st team? Where
does that put players in the current U23 squad?

I can only presume that the(nick)name originates from Ashfords'
past history with the railway works that were in the town, back
in the day when everything was in black and white and steam
locos were around! ;D

I see that the "Steamers" will now call themselves "Ramsgate
Athletic", the old name of Ramsgate!

Looks like you could be right Bill!
If you read this from the SCEFL site, you'll see that the Rams
aren't included in the "SCEFL U23 Development League" for next
year!
