"Eric Wodening wrote this seminal work on Anglo-Saxon belief and
culture in 1999. The 2nd Edition was published in 2011.
As noted on another review, it is not available via Amazon; you
must order it from the White Marsh Theod site at [...]. There
are other works available there for those interested in
Anglo-Saxon Heathenry.
This book explores the culture and world view of the early
Anglo-Saxons. It explores their views on the nature of good and
evil (hint: "original sin" is not a factor), sin, crime and
punishment, family, law, all the things a modern philosophy text
may cover. It does so in easily understandable prose.
The book includes a Wordhoard (glossary) and a Bookhoard
(bibliography) for those who wish to deepen their understanding
of this culture that became the basis for modern England.
I strongly recommend it for history buffs and modern Heathens
alike. "~Steve Conway
