Topic for discussion: current [video game] obsession
By: Blue24601 Date: May 21, 2013, 10:14 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Hello! Just... to get some sort of conversation going, what is
your current video game obsession? If you're not playing a video
game obsessively at the moment, what's your obsession in general
atm?
Mine would probably have to be Fire Emblem Awakening. (by the
way, I highly recommend that game to everyone.) It's a tactical
RPG and it's just... unbelievably fun. I've played all of the
other games - that have been released in the US, at least - and
while I loved them, they didn't... stick on me like this one.
(like I RARELY start a new game right after I've finished a
game, but I've started at least two new games) It's just really
fun and cute and awesome. ;u; I've... been playing it way too
much recently BUT THAT'S OKAY BECAUSE IT'S SUMMER FOR ME. (and
the game is beautiful and lovely and you get everyone married
and they have kids and cute a s s conversations and unf.)
What about you guys, though?

I've been playing some FE:A lately too! I should finish it. I've
somehow poured 55+ hours into it without actually finishing the
main campaign. >> Probably because I couldn't decide what
difficulty I wanted to play on. I started on hard, since I heard
that normal was like easy, but I got stuck on chapter 6 I think?
(whichever is the one where Lucina's disguise goes down the
drain) So then I restarted on normal, played a good way through,
decided that everything was too easy and restarted on hard (with
my now improved knowledge of the game.) Although uh, if I wanted
it to be actually hard I prooobably shouldn't have decided to
use Donnel. He basically one shots everything and it's
ridiculous.
I don't have a video game obsession at the moment, although I
likely will come Thursday! :D For that (assuming the postal
service does not hate me) is when I am meant to receive Virtue's
Last Reward. I played through 9 hours, 9 persons, 9 doors (which
is the prequel) about two months ago and loved it, so I'm really
pumped! The games are visual novels with these sort of "escape
the room" puzzles in between. And while I can't speak for VLR
yet, 999's story was amazing.
Also, the game is meant to have like, 20 some endings, I think?
So that will certainly occupy my time for a while.

;u; Ughhh, I have both games, I just haven't played either yet.
(I got 999 since I got it from GameFly awhile ago and liked it,
and then I got Virtue's Last Reward since it's supposedly really
rare so I didn't want to wait.) I love the writing and how
engaging it is, it's just a little slow so far - like 9 just
blew up and they're talking that's how far back I am. I haven't
even split the group yet.
(and yesss FE. Who did you marry?)

Oh my! Blue, soldier on! It is a bit slow to start. I mean, my
first play-through felt really long (this was probably in part
due to my constant paranoia about dying. I overthought every
single group split so so much), but as soon as you finish it all
the others just zoom by. I don't know if this is a useful
pep-talk to try to convince you to play it, as I do not know how
far you got before. But seriously, play it! I mean, even your
first run is probably only going to be 6-8 hours, depending on
how fast you are at the puzzles, so it's not a huge time
investment. And things will pick up!
(On my normal file I married no one. xD I married other people
off, but I was like "...my avatar is basically me I do not want
to marry myself off to one of these guys and have a child with
them this seems very very strange." So I just decided I was
protesting the game and that my unit would not marry anyone. On
my hard file I just named my avatar after a character and let
them marry Chrom. Which I kind of regretted after, because I
realized that it locked everyone else out of having two children
families, and I was like "nooo, I wanted all the family feels!",
but I did not feel like restarting again. Who did you marry?)

I definitely will start, right after I'm over my FE:A obsession.
I've heard so many exciting things about it!
(I... kind of married Chrom. Every time. I just started a male
avatar game, so I'll have to go for someone else. c: I do love
Chrom with Olivia, though, but I do want to see him with Sully.
My problem is that I love a lot of people with Olivia. :c Olivia
and Cordelia are my favorite girls. Chrom and Morgan as family
though are SO cute, as are Morgan and Lucina. So far Morgan and
Lucina are my favorite siblings.)

Alright! You should let me know how it goes! :D
(I hadn't gotten too far past the point where I got Morgan on
the file in which he existed, so I haven't had a chance to
really see him with Lucina or Chrom. Although I should correct
this by playing more! On my other file I had married Sumia with
Chrom, and Cynthia being siblings with Lucina was pretty
adorable as well.
Also wait. I just realized that it's impossible to have more
than one family with two children per save if you have a female
my unit. Which is unfair, but yeah, nevermind my previous
comment. No regrets with Morgan and Lucina being siblings!)

I will for sure!
(Morgan is just adorable all around. ;u; Ahhhh yes, I LOVE
Cynthia and Lucina together - I think the support is different,
but they can support without being siblings and they're SO cute
in their supports. Severa and Noire are also pretty awesome in
support, and INIGO AND GEROME IS A MUST.
Yes, you can get two if you have a male MU, but that's it. :c It
does suck, but alas. Unf, they are adorable. (ALSO how many
children do you have? I have a suggestion - get as many units
with Galeforce as you can. Dark fliers get the skill at level
15, and the children units inherit the skills their parents
have. Morgan will inherit Rightful King which is CRAZY useful,
since it triggers skills 10% more? if you could reclass your
unit to a dark flier and get galeforce before you get Morgan
he'll be a beast. Same with Cynthia/Severa/Inigo/etc. (Now you
definitely don't have to, and you can beat the game just fine
without all of that, but damn if it doesn't make it easier.)

(Oh my goodness Inigo. Okay, so in my first file I married
Olivia and Kellam, and so Kellam was having his support with
Inigo, and he was like "your goal in life...is to be popular
with girls? You literally travelled back in time, to be popular
with girls?" And it was just perfect and hilarious. xD
Not that many. I think only Morgan and Nah so far? I've been
like, half planning for Galeforce and half not caring. I didn't
feel like grinding that much before getting Morgan in order to
pass down Galeforce, partially because I was just lazy and
partially because grinding is really annoying on any difficulty
that isn't normal, apparently. I plan on getting it on Nah
though (since I married Donnel and Nowi, and Donnel passes down
Pegasus Knight to female children). So then she'll have Aptitude
from Villager AND Galeforce. So she'll have super stat growths
with which to murder everyone at a slight range and it shall be
glorious! *__*)

I totally missed out on the FE:A party here, what a shame. It's
my current obsession and I love everyone to bits and pieces but
as soon as Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes out, FE:A will be
probably forgotten. I mean it's ANIMAL CROSSING OKAY I WANT THIS
DAMN GAME SO MUCH

You should totally join in the FE:A party. It is never truly too
late.
Ooh, I've never actually played an Animal Crossing game. Are
they good?
