Love that is genuine will be evident in attitudes and behaviors
toward other people. What do you think it means to love one
another with brotherly affection and outdo one another in
showing honor?

To intentionally love means to purposefully serve others without
complaint regardless of how much they may annoy you or even
often mistreat or take advantage of you. To intentionally love
is to not only do unto others as you would have them do unto
you, but also to serve them as unto Christ Himself.
(Colossians 3:23-24) "And what ever you do, do it heartily, as
to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will
receive the reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord
Christ."
We can outdo one another in showing honor to each other by
intentionally looking for the good in each other and building
each other up. Avoid talking about others' faults. But instead
do as Ephesians 5:18-21 says: And do not be drunk with wine in
which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to
one another in psalms and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all
things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another in the fear of God".
I think that sometimes the best way to show honor to someone is
to bridle your tongue and choose to not talk about how that
person did you wrong. Instead we should ask God for wisdom, be
willing to yield and full of mercy, bringing peace to the
situation even though we have been wronged. It is our natural
response to want to talk to people and tell them how so and so
wronged us and how faulted they are. But sometimes peace is
brought about by simply sowing peace by choosing to be quiet.
Take your concerns and complaints to God alone in prayer and
allow Him to work in the situation.
