"Subjection" means to place ourselves under authority. Peter
also taught about subjection to those in authority. See 1 Peter
2:13-17.
a) Who did Peter mention as governing authorities?
b) How did he instruct people to live?

a) Peter mentions the following as governing authorities: Kings,
governors, (presidents) anyone put in a position to punish evil
or praise good that is done.
b & c) In the previous verses, Peter explains that we are to
follow the laws in an attempt to keep our conduct honorable so
that when the Gentiles (or unbelievers) see our actions they
will glorify God. And then again later in verse 15, we are
exhorted to do good and submit to authorities so that it might
"put to silence the ignorance of foolish men".
My thoughts on this also include how we may be perceived in the
end days as the church. Are we purposefully trying to submit to
natural authorities? Or are we using our faith as an excuse to
make waves. Because I believe that as the end time approaches,
there will only be more and more laws made that will contradict
God's higher laws. and the believers who stand for righteousness
wil be forced to choose which laws to keep and which laws to not
keep. Now is the time to think about these things before they
are upon us. In other words, if we follow earthly laws as best
we can, those who plot evil against us or come against us for
Christ's sake will have less ammunition to throw against us in
the natural. It will be plain and clear that we are being
persecuted for Christ's sake and not for our dishonorable
actions, and our own consciences will be clean.
