The Economic System

The most basic units of economy in this roleplay are credits.
They are the universal currency in the Star Wars galaxy and have
the same value everywhere. Credits can be gained in several
different ways:
Getting Credits
Taxes:
The most basic way to gain credits is through
taxes. Taxes are collected every week and the amount they bring
in depends on your tax rate. The stating population for each
planet is 10 billion, and 100 million people generate 1 credit.
(Meaning that every week, 10 billion people generate 100 credits
in total.) Your tax rate determines how much of that money you
get. (So, if your tax rate is 50%, you get 50 credits every
week.) If the tax rate is higher than 50% though, your people
won't be able to get by and you will start to lose citizens. To
find out the percentage of the population you lose, take the
percentage above 50 and divide it by 5. For example, if my tax
rate was 60%, being 10% over 50, I would lose 2% of my
population every week. In contrast, the lower your tax rate is,
the more people you gain. At 50%, the population stays exactly
as it is, and as the tax rate decreases, the population
increases with the same formula.
Using Credits
IP and DP:
IP and DP stand for Industrial and
Development points. The represent your infrastructure in the
roleplay; your funding in manufacturing and research
respectively. You get IP and DP by converting credits into them:
1 Credit converts to 1 IP or DP. Each thing you manufacture or
research has a specific IP/DP cost. IP and DP are NON TRADEABLE.
Each IP takes 4 hours to spend, and each DP takes 1 hour.
Transactions and Trade:
IP can be used to buy Trade
Units, or TU. Each TU costs 1 IP to make, but when transferred
to someone else, will give them credits. However, trade is
affected by tax rates. If your tax rate is 50%, then 1 TU will
give you 1 Credit. For every percentage below 50, it gains 4% of
its value, so if your tax rate is 25%, it will give you 100%
more; 2 Credits. If the tax rate is above 50%, the value
decreases in the same way.
Tradeable goods must be transported to other planets by ships
with cargo bays. (See "Starships")
In addition to this, credits themselves are TRADEABLE, meaning
that they can be used to buy and sell manufactured or developed
items, such as technology or ships.
Finally, please note that for realism's sake IP, TU and DP do
not need to be logged in spending threads. It's general better
just to for example say "3 Credits allocated to trade."
