Balmorran Civil Revolution
By: Mdlogan Date: September 30, 2013, 1:49 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Helfors had new plans, he had calculated the possibilities of
their government surviving for the next decade to be near zero.
He decided that he would be able to take over government and
create a different form of it. He planned to change who was in
charge, starting with the removal of the Triumvirate and turning
it into a dictatorship to stabilize the economy and the planet's
new part in the galaxy. To this end he had hired an assassin to
kill off Plun and Laresh. The assassin was to take both of them
out when Plun arrived after the Summit, Laresh was to be there
to greet him.
On the day of the return, Helfors was in the com station talking
to the people from Coruscant over holo-com. Also due to the
amount of people seeing the people of Coruscant over holo, few
were at the welcoming party for Plun, aside from Laresh, and few
of Plun's close associates, and the assassin.

Plun was having a good day. Having been treated to the excellent
food of Alderaan, he had just signed an agreement to begin the
first interplanetary trade route--Balmorra's first treaty with
another world. His ship, one of Balmorra's first
hyperdrive-vessels, came down onto the landing pad, and he
stepped off, coming face to face with his reception: his friend
Laresh, and a few of his close associates.

Laresh moved forward, "Welcome back Plun. I am glad to see you
made it back safely! How did the Summit turn out?"
The few friends moved around to let Plun through, they were all
glad to see him but didn't want to crowd him.

Jonar was a hard man, and he'd learned what the world was really
like. His parents had been killed in the war. They were
civilians. The Trimuverate could be all high and mighty, but in
reality, they had committed crimes too. They weren't so
squeaky-clean.
He'd scratched out a meagre living on the streets for a while,
until a street gang had taken him in. They'd taught him how to
look after himself. Then they'd been killed by a rival gang.
After that, his services had been for hire. He didn't care about
much any more, but there was one thing he was sure of. This
government was no better than the last.
Helfors had promised him a better Balmorra. An honest Balmorra,
under strong leadership. Jonar wasn't entirely sure he believed
him, but he did know that this democratic system didn't work. It
was bogged down by polotics, all smoke and mirrors. And Jonar
knew the value of strong leadership. More than that though, he
knew the value of credits, and knew very well that what Helfors
was offering him had a lot of value.
He'd been given a blaster for his job--something he couldn't
have dreamed of before. He was a good merc; well respected, but
he wasn't at that level. He'd been told he could keep it
afterwards. The best thing was that this was one of the easiest
jobs he'd ever had. No guards. Only a handful of people within
half a kilometer. The weapon that shot out red-hot bolts of
energy was good too. He stood in a nearby warehouse, barely 20
metres away.
There was a satisfying pew as he pulled the trigger, and
Laresh dropped, his wound smoking. Two more shots for good
measure. Screams ripped through the air as the panic set in,
people running this way and that. But having been focused as he
was on Laresh, he'd momentarily lost track of Plun....

Laresh's last thought was of the gladness of seeing Plun, the
joy of a new Balmorra. Then he fell, as so many great leaders
before him, and as so many would do after.
The few people in the area, though quick to become chaotic, were
also swift to recover. After a moment they all began to move
together, causing an even harder time for the assassin, who they
still could not identify at this point, to try and kill any
more. Plun was forced back to the ship, his friends wouldn't let
him die. They were all soon aboard, however a few stayed to make
more ruckus and throw off any tails. The ship was preparing for
launch just as they stopped moving. They now knew they could
find out who was the assassin by seeing who would move first in
any direction. So they waited, all moving around Laresh, hoping
he was alright but knowing he was no more.

Jonar had to fight down the urge to shoot all of the fools still
standing there in his frustration. But the professional assasain
in him kept that urge at bay. The deed was done, and staying
around would only make matters worse. Trembling with rage, he
swiftly retreated into the evening shadows.
Having reached a more secluded building deep in the older part
of the industrial sector, he activated his holo.
"It is done, sir." was how he started. Best to kick things off
on a high note. "Laresh is dead, but I lost Plun. He escaped
aboard his starship."
Helfors snarled. "You have proven yourself to be inadequate,
Jonar. I have little use for inadequate mercenaries."
*30 Minutes later*
"Sir, the assasain has been arrested. He had a blaster on his
person."
"Then it is definitely him." said Helfors, his face full of
apparent outrage against the death of his colleague. "He will
stand trial tomorrow. Now, what of that scumbag, Plun?"
"We tracked his ship. He is heading back here, to the Capital. I
do not know why. Surely he must know that we are onto him.
Still, sir, it makes things easier for us. I shall send a
security team immediately."
"No." said Helfors. " I will take care of it."

Aldanar had been one of the most respected leaders at the
monastery. He was powerful with the force, extremely proficient
with a blade and full of charisma; wise for his relatively young
age. In short, he might have eventually risen to lead the Order,
but that had all changed now.
The Abbot didn't like them interfering with the affairs of the
normal Balmorrans. Many followed him--had they not been
persecuted and driven out by these people? Were they not feared
and hated? Were they not above those mundane humans? But Aldanar
thought differently. They could live in peace with the other
people of the Galaxy, and moreover, it was their responsibility
to help them.
He'd been the one to sense the dark plot within the heart of
Balmorra. With the Abbot's ruling standing firm, he'd only been
able to convince a few of his friends to come with him. They
were the only ones who knew what was really at stake. The threat
was from within, and the outcome of these events could affect
every world that Balmorra had come into contact with; tens of
billions of people. They had to act. They had to save Plun.
***
The group of ten monks approached the steps of Laresh's home.
Each one of them carried a blade.
Several guards stepped out, blasters drawn. "State your
business."
"Plun is in danger." said Aldanar simply. "The man who
assassinated Laresh intended to kill Plun there as well. I sense
that your master is now in grave danger."
The leader scowled. "Hey, you're one of those monks from up in
the mountains. Leave, now!"
Aldanar calmly dropped his sword. "I cannot." he said. "Your
master is in grave danger, and his life is incredibly important
to the fate of this world and others as well. Please, grant me
an audience with your master. I will be alone and unarmed."
"What about your friends?"
"They will stay here."
The guard considered this for a moment. "I'm not buying that.
They say you have strange powers. Leave now or I'll assume
you're here to harm mister Plun."
"I may have an audience with your master." said Aldanar, waving
his hand.

The guard leader moved aside saying, "You may have an audience
with my master."
Inside the building, Helfors had been walking through the
building. He was thoroughly searching for listening devices or
hidden cameras that Plun may have put in to keep an eye on
Laresh. In actuality he had a small container with a few of the
devices above, form which he planted a few and kept the rest to
show that Plun had been planning the assassination for awhile
before it was ever put into action. He turned as he heard
someone step in the door. He smiled, or what could be considered
a smile which looked like his face contorted to do so, as he
found it to be monks.
"Well greetings, coming to the house for some particular reason?
We will be needing your people for Laresh's funeral of course."
He said, trying to keep himself contained, he didn't trust
anyone but he trusted the monks even less. He had heard the
plans of the current Abbot and he intended on 'fixing' the
problem eventually.

"My current purpose is to prevent the need of another funeral,
mr. Helfors. I believe that your colleague may be in danger. I
have come to speak with him."

"I am sorry to break this to you, but I believe Plun is the one
who planned the assassination of Laresh. I have proof that he
has bugged this house here." He said, holding out a container
with a few listening devices and small cameras inside it. "What
do you think?" He asked, he was trying to turn as many people
against Plun as possible. He may have been a war hero and a
powerful general, but he was as more cunning than he was brutal.
