       belle, dey promise say tomorrow go better.
       I be the patient wey die for hospital because oxygen no dey,
       light no dey, equipment spoil.
       I be the woman wey die for childbirth because the whole primary
       health center budget for one year na four million naira, and dem
       finish am for first two weeks.
       I be the pikin wey dey sit for bare floor for school because dem
       thief money wey dem budget for desk and books.
       I be the kidnapped victim wey dem kill bury for shallow grave
       because my family no fit raise three million naira ransom. All
       of us together no even get seventy thousand naira.
       I be the NYSC corper wey dem abduct on the way to camp or to PPA
       for one remote area wey government post am go serve.
       I be the soldier wey dem send go battlefield with expired
       ammunition, bad boot and empty promises.
       I be the police officer wey wan serve with dignity but system
       reduce am to collect survival money for roadside.
       I be the market woman wey don trade for 30 years yet inflation
       don swallow her profit.
       I be the small business owner wey close shop because diesel, tax
       and levy choke am.
       I be the farmer wey bandits pursue from farm while leaders dey
       hold press conference.
       I be the pensioner wey work 35 years but dey beg for pension wey
       dem dey “process” since 2018.
       I be the graduate wey get degree but dey ride okada because job
       no dey.
       I be the accident victim wey bleed to death because ambulance no
       come and trauma center no get equipment.
       I be the internally displaced person wey dey camp for years
       while politicians dey commission billboards.
       I be you.
       You wey grow up dey hope for bright future one day.
       You wey believe say if you struggle, country go reward you.
       Now you dey online dey type rubbish, dey defend nonsense because
       dem dash you 3,000 naira from your own common wealth.
       I be you wey reduce yourself because survival first.
       I be you wey dey shout “e go better” even when everything show
       say e no better.
       I be the Nigerian wey dey read this quietly, no wan talk again.
       You wey just dey pray say one day passport go come out.
       Visa go clear.
       Japa go click.
       So yes.
