Page Four - Phantom Summoning

Nova tossed and turned on the cloud she sought refuge on, unable
to fall asleep and actually rest. She still held the book under
her wing, keeping it safe from falling through. She opened her
weary eyes, staring up at the starry sky.
The sun hasn't even risen yet. she thought to herself, I feel
absolutely exhausted, yet why can't I simply sleep? I hope Bolt
will be freed soon, I miss him.
The pegasus felt the familiar wave of coldness run suddenly
throughout her body. She then looked to her book, held it in her
hooves and flew to the nearest source of light in the street
below. A fourth page had suddenly appeared, and it read:
Good morning, First Reader.
In addition to the vast knowledge you seek, I provide extra
knowledge, bonus pages if you will, as a reward for taking good
care of me. Simply read through this page and touch the emblem
to activate it.
Happy reading.
The title of the page was, "Phantom Summoning" and the page
simply detailed an ominous figure summoned to watch over the
First Reader as a guardian. It takes form of a resemblance or
affiliation figure to the First Reader's Cutie Mark and
nothing, or anyone, can harm the phantom other than the First
Reader only.
Nova shrugged, Well why not, I'm already bound to this book
anyway.
She then touched the emblem, this time a minor wave of coldness
washed through her. She looked all around her, rather surprised
to find nothing. Apparently the silent phantom hovering above
her - resembling that of a Wyvern Dragon with rotting flesh
oozing off its sides - was not visible to her at all. The
Phantom simply grinned, cackling a silent laughter over Nova.
Disappointed to find 'no results', the pegasus flew through
town, with the Phantom following her, simply bored and
aggravated that she can't even sleep. As the sun began to rise,
Nova noticed a glint on the ground near the outskirts of town.
She landed near it, surprised to see it was the very same
necklace Silver Bolt wanted to give her the very night they had
their fight.
Oh, Bolt. I'm so sorry.
As soon as she placed the necklace around her neck, the Phantom
above her appeared to shriek silently, and the necklace began to
burn against Nova's hide.
The pegasus flinched, instantly taking it off, rather puzzled as
to why it had such an affect on her. Completely oblivious to the
fact that now her body was poisoned with dark magic, it rejects
anything with magical properties not compatible with Shade
Dragon Magic.
The pegasus picked up the necklace again, flew home, through the
back window - Dammit why did I give the only key to Bolt? - up
the stairs to her room and placed the necklace in an empty glass
casing on her table. Still feeling exhausted, but unable to
sleep, the pony decided to walk through town; to see if any pony
else was awake.
(The Phantom can be seen and not harmed in any way by ANYONE but
Nova. Creepy aye? Don't forget to react to the pretty, rotting,
phantom corpse haunting Novy. ;) )

out. There's a big scary dragon behind you."

Nova notices the little colt for the first time as she walks by.
Upon hearing his words the pegasus turned around, seeing nothing
despite the phantom hovering right in front of her eyes. She
then turned to the young pony, "What are you talking about?" she
asks, "And I haven't seen you around, what's your name?"

"Wahhh it's right in front of you." He covered his eyes then
peaks out. "I'm Ryno."

Ryno perked up looking at her cutie mark. "Woah you've got your
cutie mark and it's a dragon. YOU DO DRAGONS !" He asked excited
looking up to Nova with admiring eyes.

Nova chuckled, "Yes, I suppose that's one way to put it." she
smiled as she kept walking, "You should go find other young
foals to play with or head home, it's not safe to stay out in
the streets alone."
The Phantom above her cast a wicked grin at Ryno, staring at him
with piercing eyes.

Ryno looked up at the shade and poked his tongue out at it.
"Your buddy there is kinda creepy. I can't go home I don't have
one to go back to." He said then giving a smile. "But that's ok
because tough guys can take care of themselves." He said jumping
along side the pegasus. "Do you know any dragons ?"

Nova looked all around her again, still failing to detect the
phantom. She then decided that it must just the colt's imaginary
friend, "You don't have a home? Surely you have one... then
again I don't technically have a home either. I gave my key to
Bolt and I don't think breaking into my own house through an
unlocked window is hardly a good example for you." Nova
chuckled, "Yes, I know many, many dragons. I fly between
different Flights of dragons across Equestria, to help maintain
the peace between ponies and dragons. I am very close to a
select few dragons of course, two to be exact."

Ryno's eyes light up as he look upon Nova. He lays in front of
her getting comfy. "You get to boss dragons around COOOL. Tell
me more." He said bouncing up and down on the spot.
