General environment

The game should look identical to PokeMon, but not too much, it
should have the feel of the series but have it's own touch.
I am not a graphics designer so I don't and won't make any
images for this but I can offer some inspiration and ideas as to
what I think it should look like.

I agree it should have its own touch. Perhaps rather than
finding the monster in the grass you have to enter safaris? And
the rest of the world could be shops and games to earn
experience.

Ive heard that there should be a version that you get to walk
around in and duel and then one that you just duel in an arena.
Do you think I should make 2 versions like this or would that be
too confusing?

Maybe that could be a feature of them game. You use your
character to walk into an area where there is 2 buildings, and
either the one that you enter will decide which you are in.

I think having some walking and some just inside dueling (mixing
both of these) would be my best option.

Keeping it simple is always a great option. Simple games with
many things to do are the most addictive!
Like PocketLegneds and DoodleJump :)

Hmm.. Perhaps. How will you get the monsters then? Buying
them? That sounds great too I'm just wondering ;)

I think in-game currency or points from winning battles will go
to buying monsters. Then they can buy exclusive items or bonuses
by tapping on a link in the game and buying it off of a website
and they get a code for it to put into the game.

You could add in-game purchases maybe...
But at the same time that might turn some users from getting it
if the In-game-purchases change the game too much.
