I think a futuristic setting would be nice given that the tools,
etc... will prob be futuristic. Maybe some sort of time travel
story line can incorporate different time lines.
Start in the future as a champion, king, etc... but get sent
back and actually build from the past... maybe... Or just from
way past to recent past to present to near future and end in a
       distant future...

I got it. Our hero wakes up in his village and has a beloved pet
(Choose in the beginning). Invaders are ransacking his village,
a magic portal opens up. Him and his pet dive into it. He gets
transported into a futuristic city with his pet a POKETMON.

It would also be cool to have the character grow. From child to
teen to adult, by having the character have levels and gain more
abilities as you grow like carrying more pets and parts, etc...
       as you level up.

eh, this doesn't really need a deep story, I mean it could but
the game is going to be like arena battling and a little
exploration and capturing monsters. I'm with QD the story should
stay simple, this isn't going to be like a full fledged RPG.
that's my thought on the subject

I completely agree. Keep it simple and update it later for the
important stuff that people are interested in. Features and
       designs. lol
