       The setting of the game?

Guys, should the setting be past(medieval maybe?), present, or
       future?

       I like present/future. Like 50 years ahead

Setting would be probably be the most important backbone of the
game. It would determine architecture, maps, items, types of
       people, and monsters you find.

More than likely it will be present just because thats the
easiest thing to think up while designing.

I think you're right Quantam, you wouldn't have to think of
futuristic or past-like items. It would be easier, but I'm with
Hawkester..futuristic is more applealing to me.

[/quote]Well even pokemon was futuristic. Those computer systems
and those video calling computers. That was not available when I
played these games 6 years ago :P

I say maybe in the not too distant future, like 50-75 years
ahead, the architecture wouldn't have changed much so it can
still have that same feel to it except maybe a little more
       metal/modernism?
the arena area could be like one big city with shops around and
be just like a big city lol, with the arena in the middle of
       course
and then what about the other island/area? it could be mostly
wildlife area with a couple small towns?

Mostly wildlife on the free-roam island, few very small
       villages.
