Ireland is an incredibly hot issue in Australia right now.
Generally the people's sentiment lies with the Irish, rather
than the British. Australians said no when Éamon de Valera came
to drum up support for keeping Northern Ireland in 1948, and
they're saying 'no' to the British keeping it today.
Of course, the government doesn't go that far. Risking
endangering their relationship with the United Kingdom by
assisting terrorists is completely out, but that doesn't mean
they need to stop the resistance. Even efforts to reach
compromises or peace talks would be seen as negotiating with
terrorists by the present British command.
Dunz tells Captain O'Doyle quite firmly he is not approving any
involvement in the Northern Ireland conflict. Of course, less
than a week later Dunz disappears on one of his special
excursions (estimated leave several weeks), leaving Commander
Laurence Kurtis in charge. The man glows like a metahuman, but
O'Doyle has no idea what he does.
Well, other than run a fairly tight ship. Dunz has the luxury of
forcing obedience when he needed to, or leveraging his skill as
talker when he couldn't, but Kurtis has to rely on stricter
       order and chain of command.
Binny, who had been using Dunz's lax day to day command to spend
time and resources working programs in marginal aboriginal
       communities.
During this time, O'Doyle is kept busy (perhaps Dunz was worried
he'd fly off to interfere directly in Ireland despite orders)
with more questionably legal surveillance work, a publicity
campaign to improve his perception and heighten his profile
amongst the Australian public and, of course, he gets called in
to make a dangerous metahuman arrest (it turns out a well placed
gag gets rid of most of the danger, as the middle aged self made
crime boss relied on some sort of subsonic hypnotic suggestion
to cause victims to have crippling psychosomatic reactions).
And, in once instance, he was called in as support on a bank
robbery that had gone rather far South.
In the end, he didn't have to fire a shot, or swoop in and save
hostages, because one of the tellers talked the robbers out of
it. It later came to light that the teller in question handed
out a rather large sum to a man without an account, but she
managed to talk her way into keeping the job anyways.
Yeah, she glowed and got brought in for some more experienced
       conversations about these events.
Tiffany is quite welcome during the visits, and seems to be
genuinely better lately. She has purpose again, is busy helping
       people, and fucks phenomenally.

Dunz comes back to find 89-n (n = the number of deaths that
haven’t happened yet) named photos of the dead civilians in
       Northern Ireland.

Dunz still isn't back by present game time, so I'll assume
O'Doyle hasn't pulled this stunt yet (since Kurtis is using the
       office right now).
