Family Trouble: Dr. Hertz

Dr. Hertz is in the midst of designing some new details of the
citadel when feels a sharp pressure in his mind, and when he
opens it to let in Rita's thoughts, he is surprised by the shear
worry in them.
Wally, there's a problem at Sarah's. I need you here, now!
Please, Wally, it's about Ethan.
An image of Sarah's house, with the top floor collapsed partway
down into the second, fills Wally's head, along with the
knowledge that Ethan did it.

A multitude of hands fill the room, covering and closing
anything Hertz doesn't want a casual observer to see, before he
is gone from the space.
He arrives at Sarahs house moments later, using the sun to
navigate, and observes what is happening. His mind asking Rita
for more information.

The house is missing a large section of its roof, and the floor
below it. Sara and Christopher are standing outside. Christopher
is hugging his mother tightly, with obvious fear. Rita is
standing in front of them, talking to a large, well built man in
a skin tight blue suit with a black and yellow cape with a
lightning bolt motif.
According to Rita's mental connection, this muscular stranger is
Ethan. Their grandson. He seems a bit out of sorts, but calmer
than a smashed in house implies.
As Hertz approaches, he realizes his suddenly adult grandson's
(and his muscles have the telltale lack of wear of a
transformation) feet aren't touching the ground. He's hovering a
fraction of an inch off of it.
Ethan looks, in short, like the stereotype of a comic book
superhero, down to perfect hair and piercing eyes. He does still
look, vaguely, like himself. Like a perfect version of what he
might grow up to be one day.

Hertz materializes in front of Ethan, floating a few feet off
the ground beyond Ethan new height. The puppet's face is
disapproving and its arms are crossed. "What is this about,
Ethan?"

"Zayda!" Ethan cries out as his grandfather appears. He seems
relieved. "I'm glad you stopped by. It seems that Mommy and
Bubby are having trouble accepting what's going on." He shrugs
as though what is going on is no big deal. "I admit the damages
to the house are unfortunate, but I'm in control now, and more
than happy to help fix it."
He won't change back, Rita sends to Wally.

Sometimes they can't Hertz sends back to his wife.
"Good, I'm glad to hear that. Control is something metahumans
must always maintain." Hertz says in a comforting tone. Thanks
puppet floats down to Ethan's level, "I want you to explain to
me what happened there." The puppet points at the hole in the
roof of the house.

The young man looks back at the house and turns slightly red
with embarrassment. "I was," he said, "Well, I was just playing.
A mere child, imagining that I was a metahuman. The next thing I
knew, I'd torn through the floor and roof and was flying in the
sky, no longer a child at all."
He turns back to face his grandfather. "I really am sorry, but I
didn't know it was going to happen."

Hertz checks over his family to make sure no one is hurt. He
heals any injuries he can find with a cursory inspection. The
puppet puts a hand on Ethan's shoulder, "I understand, new
powers can be a bit of a shock. I'm just glad you didn't explode
or catch everything on fire. Can you fly?"

Christopher has some scrapes, but it's easily fixed.
In answer to the question, Ethan grins, and then launches up
into the air, flipping over and circling round the spot he
perceives his grandfather. Then, he halts in the air overhead
and smiles proudly. "I think so, Zayde." He starts drifting
downwards. "I'm a superhero now!"

And I just realized I've been putting the grandpa word as Zayda,
when it should be Zayde. Ugh...

The puppet smiles, "A hero, huh?" It says as it rises in the air
to where Ethan hovers. "So far, you've broken your parents'
house and hurt your brother." Wallmand says in a dry tone. "I
want you to think about that. Then I want you to tell me what a
'Hero' would do next."
