Super-Vandalism!
By: insert name Date: May 13, 2017, 11:33 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
On August 14th a story breaks concerning the vandalism of Sylvan
Lake in Mt. Rushmore national park. Someone had erected, without
any permission, a large statue of a mannequin-esque woman
wearing a complex dress. The big part of the story, however, was
that the sculpture was apparently made entirely out of water
that just stayed there.
Naturally, this act of metahuman vandalism ignited both sides,
many decrying it as defacing a beautiful body of nature, and
many claiming the work beautiful in its own right and a lovely
use of powers.
"Are we to condemn artists as criminals, for following their
medium? Far better to let metahumans express their essential
nature, than have them be killers and monsters."
"Whether or not the work is art is irrelevant! It's an illegal
use of protected waters and a vandalization of one of our most
treasured national parks. It must be removed!"
Naturally, while this story is one of the biggest, other stories
of metahuman vandalism crop up in its wake:
* Someone is erecting (ahem) twenty foot earthen penises across
Death Valley. They're big, veiny, detailed things and have a
habit of appearing fully formed overnight.
* What many mistook as an elaborate graffiti mural depicting an
0rgy where attendees were depicted as both black and white,
explicitly engaging with each other, turned out to be some kind
of phantasmal image floating just in front of the wall. No one
has yet explained what it is. The fact that it also depicted
homosexual acts didn't help.
* Someone has been making plants grow the shape of dinosaurs.
This has mainly happened in and around Austin Texas, but a small
cropping appeared in San Fransisco.
* A hospital room has been bombarded with strange objects,
including some kind of distorted mass of spiked bone, bullets,
and chunks of human corpses, appearing out of thin air. (An
investigation into the incident identified the bone spur as one
of Xuong Chet's, the deadly metahuman sniper who fires his own
bones at people. A sweep by Dr. Hertz found... cells belonging
to Dr. Hertz. After some testing and a brief experiment, it was
confirmed to be the exit location of Specialist Ostberg's
strange disrupting field. It was, in fact, teleporting objects
that entered him to this specific room. A check showed it to be
the room he was put in after his appendix was removed.
Naturally, the hospital sealed it off, and it carries risk of
contagious biomedical waste.)

I'm just surprised that no one's marked the moon yet.
Hertz with also decry the vandalism at Sylvan lake as a danger
to the natural ecosystem and a drop in the water level of that
magnitude as a very powerful environmental hazard.

Tagging the Moon is hard. As far as Hertz has seen, despite a
great many powers, no known Metahumans are capable of surviving
in a vacuum (one of the few circumstances that Green G has not
been tested for... nor anyone else, really, as it's one of those
tests that is very difficult to do and likely to cause lasting
harm if it's wrong. The same reason most 'super tough'
candidates' upper limits aren't well documented. By the time you
find the limit... you might have killed them), and travel
distance is an issue for most anyways.
It's also quite possible someone has tagged the Moon and no
one's noticed it yet.

Follow up:
Hertz's ecological concerns remain a topic of some concern as no
one seems to know how to get rid of the water sculpture. Giant
rock penises can be torn down, plant-osauruses cut down, but...
well, how does one dispose of a free standing body of water?
Some interesting ideas are going to be thrown around over the
next few months.

Go yell at Tiffany, that's who obviously did it. Hertz had files
on all known metas. He knows it's her, he's got that hypermind.

Well she's probably going to get the shi t sued out of her by
South Dakota. It's a state park, not a national one. So it's up
to the state to deal with it. But it's probably going to reach
national notice with the sink Hertz is going to make about it.

Well, if you want to yell at her, she's at Woodstock. Thing was
made while she was on her road trip there, so you didn't have
time to yell at her before then.
