Events of 1968: Stuff That Happened in Setting that you may have
        heard of

       ---------------------------------------------------------
A lot of this is for review, since I went over it before. This
does not include normal stuff from real world history that
       happened (but check the timeline)
       March:
       Johnson secures the primaries.
Some scattered, unreliable sources start talking about Green G,
but the PCs weren't paying attention (since then some of these
old sources have come to light for knowing before others).
       April:
A minor news story reports MLK's family claim to have seen his
ghost three days after his death.
Blurry photos of Green G are published, the military does not
       comment.
Later, footage of Green G in action surfaces and the government
acknowledges they are using superhumans in combat.
Speculation as to Green G's origin runs wild.
       May:
Strange perfectly spherical craters are found on what used to be
US and South Vietnam military positions. No official comment is
       given.
The FBI tangles with Jarvis West briefly. (This was hushed up at
the time, but later comes to light)
       July:
Jarvis West has his historic July 4th rampage in New York. Lin
Wen and a superheroine who used light are seen on the scene. The
clash ends with West fleeing the city.
Lin Wen starts to capitalize on her position, appearing in news
and talk shows regularly for months afterward. (And, somewhat
less frequently, in the news saving people from fires, catching
crooks and clashing with dangerous metahumans).
The other woman is later identified in film to be Barbara French
(a woman wanted for embezzling), but can't be found.
Dr. Horne makes his first television appearance, reassuring
people after the event and speaking out for both sides.
In late July Dr. Horne meets Dr. Horne.
The military reveals footage of Green G displaying powers at an
undisclosed airbase. Henry 'Steelsuit' Dowd is revealed a few
weeks later, with footage of him throwing tanks around.
       August
The 'Be a Hero' Recruitment Campaign begins, comparing ordinary
soldiers, nurses, and even stateside volunteers with the
       superhumans on the field.
The term 'metahuman' is used by President Johnson, cementing it
in the minds of the people (the first use is actually in an
obscure scientific journal, in an article rather rife with
speculation, written by a Dr. Gerald Neil).
Several factories producing munitions face major accidents.
(this later turns out to have been sabotage, but the factory
owners' covered it up before the government got a chance to)
       October
Tuong and a mysterious Vietnamese woman appear in St. Lois and
he burns his handprints into the arch on live TV. During the
event a great many police officers attempt to intercede, and are
teleported away by the woman. No one is harmed.
       November
Johnson is elected again and begins his third term.
