3DS General Thread

Because not everyone has Animal Crossing yeah? Come throw your
friend code down, have a game of Mario Kart or spam each other
with letters.
What games do you own? What do you want to buy? Picked anything
up from the eShop?
I have to heartily recommend HarmoKnight from the eshop. It's by
the Pokemon guys, a nice little rhythm game that is full of
charm and has an art style that reminds me of Pokemon Trozei.
Also Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure, which has a maraca
minigame that has Space Channel 5 and Rub Rabbits music. Oh and
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm which has the most adorable little
Kain and Squall in it and a buttload of unlockables.

I'll have to try HarmoKnight, because I love rhythm-oriented
titles like DDR and Elite Beat Agents. That being said, I looove
Theatrhythm! That was my favorite 3DS title before New Leaf
finally arrived. It's so cute and positively addicting. I enjoy
Rhythm Thief too, but I honestly think it could go without the
story mode and filler AIMLESSLY TAP FOR LAYTON'S HINT COINS
shit. While the idea behind Phantom R's story and motivation is
actually interesting (won't spoil anything here), I thought
everything that wasn't a song level was boring and predictable
for the most part. I would've enjoyed more songs and less
dragging out of the story mode.
I'm sorry I shouldn't get as angry about the story mode as I do.
3DS games I've managed to nab: Super Mario 3D Land, Sonic

I've been meaning to try Harmoknight for a while. I keep putting
it off because Nintendo's got my wallet in their hands for other
games such as Pokémon X and Y, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D,
Super Smash Bros. 3DS, Zelda: Oracle of Seasons...
The games I own for the 3DS are:

If I had to give a reccomendation, I'd say to give Uprising a
try. The dialogue is very funny, the story is nicely put
together, and the combat system is very good. It's hard to get
used to in the beginning, but after playing around, it's easier
to play in the harder levels.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3d (On the fire temple.)
Tales of the Abyss 3d (Barely even started)
Pokemon Rumble Blast (Still need to beat the main story)
Kid Icarus: Uprising (Beat the main story, replaying at higher
intensities.)
Mario Kart 7 (Been slackin' on it.)

I really don't have very many 3DS games.
Paper Mario Sticker Star, Sonic Generations, Luigi's Mansion
Dark Moon, PMD Gates to Infinity, Animal Crossing New Leaf.
I still want to get Kid Icarus Uprising and possibly try out
Fire Emblem Awakening, and I haven't really checked out the
eShop. I do have Swapnote so lemme know if you add me and we can
send each other stupid doodles and shit.

God I love my 3DS. Possibly my favourite console ever. My FC is
3308 5717 4030.
I just wanna make a few recommendations
1 - Kid Icarus Uprising
Absolutely one of the best games I've ever played simply ever.
Each and every character is magical and the gameplay is no
slouch. It pulls off impressive visuals, lovable characters, fun
gameplay and an interesting story into a unique game not
available anywhere else.
2 - Fire Emblem Awakening
The best Fire Emblem I've played if you're new to the series.
More forgiving and more customisable than previous fire emblems
and also has the potential to be a huge time sink if you get
hooked like I did. Beautiful game with endless possibilites: not
without it's minor flaws but one of the must have games for 3DS
if turn based RPGs or Strategies are your thing.
3 - Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward (Only to be played after
999 on DS)
The Sequel to 999 is simply the best visual novel game I've ever
played. I played the Vita version, but other then a save bug in
the 3DS version: they're identical. 999 is great in it's own
right, but I felt there were a few flaws that prevented me from
absolutely falling head over heels for that game: namely it felt
like a clunky experience riddled with a few storyline
oversights. It was a wonderful story and I loved it, but ZE:VLR
truly expanded on it and even if some don't like the story as
much, it is a much better video game. An absolute pleasure of a
game I just love so much ahh.
4 - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D
If you're not happy by low framerates then avoid this version.
Personally I can't tell the difference either way, but I know
that's just me. A lot of people write off the MGS series as
being a shooty-shooty game, but it's really not. It's so much
more than that and I personally beleive MGS 3 to be the best in
the series. The 3DS version is a little wonky, I'll admit. Don't
pick this up if you don't have the Circle Pad Pro or if you can
get this on the Vita/PS3/360, but definitely give this a spin
otherwise or on another console. You won't get spoiled for MGS 1
or 2 because 3 takes place earlier in the timeline anyway.
Seriously: don't judge this series by it's cover: it's not only
fun to play and be a sneaky snek but has some of the most
interesting writing and characters in any game ever if you're
willing to suspend your belief a little.
Ok, those are some must haves that some people may have
overlooked: really they're worth it.
I'm super excited for Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Smash Bros.
4 and Ace Attorney 5. Hopefully we'll also get localised
versions of Ace Attorney vs Prof Layton and SMT: Devil Survivor

Speaking of, I'm really, really, really excited for Project X
Zone. Mostly because of Mega Man X and Zero being playable. I
just adore the combat system, it's a Tactical RPG, and then when
you fight an opponent, it goes into this Fire Emblem-esque
fighting game thing. You can use up to 4 attacks on the enemy
and then the attacking is over. When you're near another unit,
you can use the "ally" system like in Marvel V. Capcom 2, where
you can press the "R" button and call in an ally, where they'll
use one of their attacks and then pop out. Some units have a
"single" unit, where you press the "L" button and it brings in a
character from their company (e.g. Kite and BlackRose calling in
Ulala because they're all from SEGA.).
Man, sorry for the minor wall of text, but damn I love the game,
so far.
Plus, if you preorder with GameStop (sadly, I don't know what
GAME is doing with the preorder), it puts you in for the
collector's edition.

Yeah. I'm pretty excited for Project X Zone too. I was a bit put
off with the characters who I have no idea who they are. I was
only really trying for the fact that it had Megaman in it, but
as soon as it got to the fighting I though it was awesome. I
can't wait for the full game now.

Project X Zone caught my attention, but I heard some mixed
things about it and that sort of dissuaded me a little. I guess
I should try the demo out for myself and make my own judgement!
We should have Mario Kart/Kid Icarus/Animal Crossing/Whatever
game Playcube events in the near future! Should be fun!
