Been reading alot of Ryokan. Like him you have a great gift of
expression. Good for you Steve. I've been just watching the
whole thing unfold. Life that is. Nothing to add at least
mentally. Spend my evenings either in some zen poetry or
listening to some good chill or last but not least with the
girlfriend. It's beautiful and the words can't express it. If
they could I wouldn't care to try.
Anyways i don't know what happens on other forums. Have no use
for them. But this one no doubt served as a great tool for me in
escaping delusion. Thank you for that. Sincerely.
PS I've heard that people pay for this stuff and had I met you
years ago I may have beat down your door to throw money at you
for it. Maybe the start of something for you? Who knows :)

Anyway... I found it difficult to read what you wrote, simply
because it is a tad on the rational side for me, and that's not
how I got it.
Thank you.

Interesting contrast ness. Steve's expression is not at all how
I experience it either but that doesn't necessarily equate to
difficulty in anyway.

Thanks guys,
when I wrote "seem aloof" that is exactly what I meant, not that
they (we) "are aloof" it just seems that way because there is no
attachment to outcome, having no attachment seems aloof to those
that do have attachment, you even state it yourself Nessa when
you said it may SEEM like you are aloof, how you get that I was
stating that they ARE aloof I don't understand.
Secondly, I think I'm in Jed's camp in the sense that I know
it's completely futile to convey with words or charts or
whatever what it's like to be "here" and yet I am drawn to the
effort to do so by what source I know not, I just am, when the
fever to jot it all down hits, nothing stands in my way
(unfortunately for galleries and such) I just write it, I find
it crazy, like doing a Rubik's cube, trying to express the
inexpressible, I don't know why or what it means nor do I care,
I actually think my mind is sometimes a busy f ucker and needs
something to chew on so I give it this bone to chew on, some
people have a mind thats like an old hound dog, lays around the
porch happily while rabbits run in the yard unconcerned. Mine is
more of a high strung trials dog, needs to go for a run
occasionally, when a varmint pops it's head out (the idea for
these last 3 posts) I can't help but chase it... Squirrel!!!!
Just how it is, over here, needs no approval or applause or
derision or scoffing.
BTW, Has anyone seen The Zero Theorem? If not get it today and
watch, I'm interested in your take on it.

This writing thing has stemmed out from a frustration of
reading, I am a voracious reader and yet I have now become bored
with others and their take on what this is, I haven't stopped
reading but what has happened is that as reading has slowed down
and become less fascinating, writing has sped up and taken it's
place. It's not about what others think anymore, it's more about
whats happening here.
A major epiphany I had at Jeds was the day I realized you have
to put down others books and start writing your own, that's a
major transition point from looking outward to seeing within.

Ha!, it’s that one step isn’t it!? It’s where Emerson and
Thoreau went, where Whitman and Melville went, where Byron Katie
and Jed McKenna went, When you stop reading others books, stop
searching outward and start writing your own, from within. son
of a ****. So simple I almost missed it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am filled with Gratitude,
thank you.

I had that blackout already, when I felt like a stranger in this
body because everything I thought, about everything that was I,
was a lie and even the form I was experiencing it all through
was a foreigner to the awareness. The difference, and why I have
no problem with the world, is that I am doing and have been
doing exactly what makes me happy, getting ok with that was a
challenge after recognizing it was all a lie, took about 6
months of threatening to leave it all behind. But then a simple
realization, I'm happy, I don't need to drop everything and run
away to some foreign land or join a monastery, I already did
that 20+ years ago when decided to make mandalas all day every
day. I do what I want damn near every day.
I engage the world on it's terms but I do what I want within
that parameter, no expectation, no disappointment, No thing.

C'mon us!
No need to argue.
We are the only aid to awakeners.
Let that be our focus, rather than the nits of differences
between our awarenesses.
Or, hell!, I don't care.
Feelin' like a friggin' zombie now.

Yeah, sorry if that wasn't very clear, that wasn't about you, I
quoted you because that statement about reading Ryokan jogged a
realizatio for me about what was happening here. It wasn't a
judgement on you or reading, both of which I am very fond of. :)

So, I got an email update from that guy who posted the blog "the
realization of Jed Mckenna"
HTML https://jedmckenna.wordpress.com/realization-of-jed-mckenna/
and after reading a bit I felt like expressing a few things on
there, here is my last post, it hasn't been loaded over there
yet as it has to be "cleared" first. I remember posting on that
site about about the same time I started this site, after
writing this I was taken with how diderent the world seems from
then to now:
How long has it been since you have re-read the trilogy Brian?
There are many assumptions in your post that don't hold up to
whats actually in the books. For example, in SIE Jed says in
chapter 6 that these are the words of U G Krishnamurti that
"overlap" his own thoughts on the subject, the very first
statement is then that he "detests the term Enlightened" That he
is not an enlightened man and that there can be no such thing as
Enlightenment or an enlightened being because there would have
to a be a "self" to be enlightened and that the full realization
of truth is just this: "There is no such thing as a self".
In Damnedest Jed acknowledges that the pinnacle of human
existence could very well be the transitory state called by
various names; Unity Consciosness, God Consciousness, Buddha
nature, Christ Consciosness etc. and that he HAS experienced
that state himself. Having experienced this state several times
I would concur that the state of bliss that one experiences
while so enraptured and the subsequent confirmation during this
state of this simple fact; Love is the only truth, would lead
one to believe that this state is enlightenment. The problem
that ensues for anyone experiencing this state is that it is
transitory, non abiding and will fade like a summer dream.
The genius of Mckenna is the realization that the state of bliss
that everyone on the enlightenment path seems to be looking for
or has experienced briefly and wants to return to, is a lie, at
least in the a sense of a "self" abiding in it permanently. He
found that truth realization, not enlightenment, is the only
abiding state of consciousness that allows one to live "in" the
dream state without being "of" the dream state and has nothing
to do with bliss. His vehement insistence to, "fuck bliss", is
just an effort to keep students from confusing these two
different states of being. Far from a denunciation of love and
bliss, it's more like an art teacher saying to a student who is
learning to draw eyes, "screw the nose! why are you focused on
the nose!" it doesn't mean the nose is not important or
valuable, it's just that it's a distraction when learning to
draw eyes.
This is where I think your entire premise for the blog post,
that Jed's weakness in the books; disregarding love and bliss,
is incorrect. He just wants the reader to keep the focus on
whats important, Truth Realization. He says so in the first
chapter of Damndest when he gets Sarah (who's after bliss and
unity consciousness and thinks that's "enlightenment") to
realize she can chase bliss all she wants, AFTER she becomes
Truth Realized. Also, your exercises of how to "find out if
Jed's assertions are true" fall flat. Jed expresses over and
over that the ONLY way to know if what he is talking about has
value is to do the math yourself. Autolisys. I've done the math,
his assertion is true and it was horrifying, no bliss involved.
It's not for dabblers and dilettantes, only those who see no
other road and are willing to burn their ships and plunge ahead
into the blackness.
