Thoughts on Awakening
DIR By: Plato
Date: August 3, 2026, 10:28 am
---------------------------------------------------------
First stab at what Crystal asked about compressing some of the
concepts of non-duality or at least my interpretation through
Jed's and other's writings and mostly the experience here... I
just kinda write when things appear, probably won't be a lot of
rhyme or reason except in this skull ;)
Prior to awakening, the ego sees only how one is differentiated
or separate from everything, we are taught this differentiation
from the earliest age; everything else is separate from “me” and
consequently one is locked into a state of constant comparison,
this/that, big/small, good/bad… it’s never ending which
eventually can be it’s own “Hell” of a sort, think: All these
poor teenagers now comparing themselves on social media and the
trauma coming from it. That’s the unenlightened existence in a
nutshell.
During this separation state, at some point, there are
eventually random and fleeting occasions of “spiritual
awareness” or a sensation of love or one-ness; serendipity, an
answered prayer, a spark of connection during a church sermon,
the random state of a reduced or collapsed ego through a birth
or death, health problems, divorce, loss of a loved one, a
psychedelic trip or even just the constant disorder, confusion
and havoc of life… all of which could be the spark or sparks
needed to eventually light the torch of a spiritual searcher;
the flame symbolizing the memory of a fleeting taste of
non-duality, oneness.
When a person is awakened and aware, at the deepest level, they
transcend duality or the seeming nature of separateness of
things, people and place. In this state there is no longer a “me
and you” and not even an “us” which still denotes, as all
language must, the possibility of separation. In this “awakened”
state there is only ‘one’ and “every-thing” is that one.
The state of “Oneness” then upends the state of “separation” as
the prime lens through which one focuses on life. One is still
aware of the concept of "separation" but is always "Awake" to
it's unreality and the turmoil it engenders in humanity. This
transition from “many” to “one” is sometimes described as the
“gate-less gate”, a definitive “before and after” where
everything is now different and yet nothing happened… a
non-event where nothing changes except one’s total perspective
of existence, which then becomes the center of all current and
future thought processing.
In this “awakened” and singular state of oneness with all, The
Self can eventually return to the human world of separateness
and not be sullied by it, on the contrary, one can and
eventually probably will, defuse much of the turmoil that
permiated one’s prior existence, ironically diminishing the same
chaos and mayhem that was probably the prime mover in ushering
in the "searcher role" in the first place.
Without a dominant separate self (ego) to respond to and
continue to agitate at or defend a position, much of one’s
former reason for being simply slides on by, unregarded and
unengaged. It's the end of the roller coaster and the start of a
unique sense of equanimity. There is no longer anyone to fight
with or struggle against, especially and strangely not even
one’s own self, when all is actually (not metaphorically or
intellectually) seen as One.

That's exactly what I would have written when neck deep in
seeker mode as well. Had no idea that all the ideas above were
literally just my ego with an inability to accept what is at the
deepest level. Thought if only I could get rid of the
conditioned self that I would be enlightened and see “all is
one" sort of stuff.
There's an interesting stage past that when all the notions of
something being wrong with me fundamentally are let go of. I
wouldn't call it enlightened at all because that's just another
egoic idea of how I can play God or beat the system.
Little did I know that nothing needed to be done at all.
Conditioning can't exist in the light of awareness. We do happen
to be separate. We do differentiate and compare ourselves. When
you're " awakened" it's just seen for what it is and it's
perfect that way.

Self deprecating does have its merits though in a world where
people are seeking others approval. People tend to like you
more. If that's important to you.

Nice to see someone take Nessa's place of oneupmanship :D
(joke) The request was a distillation of the basic idea's for
someone who "hasn't" experienced these things, so I'm explaining
in terms that just about anyone somewhat versed in seeker stuff
could understand from this point of view, not anyone else's.

I'm really not trying to one up you on anything. This is the
legitimate point I've been trying to address with you and the
others for months now. The enlightenement trap. I just seriously
wonder how far you've pondered it if at all but it's hard to
address anything when people aren't being authentic or seem to
have something to prove. I m genuinely getting at something here
and wondering if you're ten toes down on all that you wrote
above. If so it's fine. It is just nice to take it further and
throw it all out. That's what's made a huge difference and the
literal meaning of nothing is happening imo.

The difference is, you never really put anything on the line,
it’s always in response to someone sticking their neck out that
you then respond, it’s basically chickensh!t, grow a pair and
write from your gut instead of critiquing others work bro… and
I’ve had a drink or two so take that into consideration as well
;)

There's nothing to put your neck on the line about when you're
not cooking up fake sh*t all the time. I'm real and authentic
with you which you have no problem with calling out all the
time. Calling my version of reality an illusion and saying I
gave up and when back to the carnival and degrading comments of
that nature. Unfortunately you're just proving that you're no
better than a child defending their idea of Santa Claus in this
regard. Enlightenement isn't real and neither are you. At least
grasp and address one of the two at your age or not. A good
place to start is maybe with the fact that you're an assh*le
that likes to attack people on line when they say something you
don't agree with. Or just roll with the story you told in your
op. I've nothing further to add. Not my problem.
The way to address and rid yourself of ego is to get real and
truthful with yourself and others. Not so much create and parade
around a fake enlightened one.

Good morning, thinking a little clearer this AM :D I don't
remember degrading you or saying you gave up, if I did I
apologize, I don't think that at all about you and what you are
doing. It seems we just had a "come to Jesus" moment not that
long ago where we basically agreed to the same basic stuff but
using different words to express it, guess I'm wrong about that
based on your last post above tho... You think you're authentic
and you think I'm fake is what I gather from this? is that
inaccurate again?

And what I gather is that you see me as the emperor with no
clothes parading my ass around the streets crowing "I'm
Enlightened!" Is that what you've been getting at?
No response... figures. How you infer that from my first post in
this thread is a head scratcher but you infer a lot of things,
mostly incorrectly from this vantage point...
What you describe as your experience is really just spiritual
bypassing, you "skipped" the hard work of assessing why you
aren't "real" and went straight to the core self, that's a fine
solution but you've still got an issue, you can't seem to let
others be who they are without throwing sh!t their way and not
up front, like a man but from the cheap seats, mostly it seems
to try to validate yourself. Seems you might want to turn around
and look at that, or not. Your answers to this post meant for
Crystal who asked for it, tell a lot about who is really hiding
under that "authentic" mask.
That's ok, I'm guessing you might just erase them so there's no
record of it for people to judge, you're pretty adept at that.
good luck.
