No Kings
DIR By: Gromer
Date: April 7, 2026, 6:43 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Gromer mentioned 'no kings'... one of the most piercing rally
cries ever devised - yet look at the paltry, pedestrian,
narrowly partisan use to which it is being put... that seems a
bit of a non-sequitur to insert this last 'kings' bit here, but
I'll let it stand. - Mic
Everywhere people scream and carry on about all the injustices,
current, past and future (WTF?) from their myopic perspective,
things like "getting the jab" and "no kings" and "Jews are the
problem" and "OMG global warming!" along with every other b!tch
and moan that to these ears are nothing but "A tale told by an
idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." - Plato
I want to address this here, coz I am surprised you do not see
this issues in its full depth.
'No kings' is not a political expression at all. It has nothing
to do with the current situation in the US of A or a split in
the nation, even though we might call the various recent events
as a catalyst.
It is at its core an expression of wish to be absolutely free.
No animal (including the human animal) wants to be dominated,
preyed upon, hunted, chained, dictated to, chased, lorded over.
The very natural basic drive of every creature on planet Earth
is to remain free from all constraints. Now, we do know that
SOME constrains are necessary in human societies, or else it
might turn into universal chaos. But the inherent drive is to
keep those constraints to the very minimum.
So if you see this as some low level partisan issue as evident
from your comments.. this is not a very deep perception of what
is happening. People instinctively feel threatened, and they
have a very good reason. It is beginning to look more and more
like Russia, a slow pervasive penetration that, once it takes
hold, is impossible to shake off. Just remember how Rome fell.
Perhaps, not in your generation, but the cracks are beginning to
appear, and The Collective Subconscious (aka the breadth and
width of the collective human experience and all that us humans
have lived through in generations) senses it.
I said in 2016 to Ken (believe it or not) that there might be a
coup d'état coming. Yep. Last time I was here on this forum, I
told you guys to expect a war, probably soon. That was what? two
years ago? Look at it now.
That's the reality. The real (unreal to you) reality that might
shatter your worlds too as much as you pretend it does not
concern you in the least. So, come down from that mountain. I
have no doubt you went up and have seen. But somehow forgot to
come back down.
It doesn't mean you have to join this faction or that, go on a
rampage, wave the posters and chant the chants. Just mere
acknowledgement will do.
Cheers.

Unfortunately I don't much get into politics since realizing I
was never going to be much influence on any of it but I find the
us government as a whole to be scary. One side lies to your
face, the other does whatever they want anyways. I agree that
things are reaching a boiling point because neither side really
has any respect for the people. I hate to say it's kinda hard to
blame them.

What is at top of the mountain, that has some here, denying the
reality? Every time I have brought up anything to do with what's
going on in a larger scale, has been dismissed as if there is
something wrong with me. That I missed the boat, and don't see
the reality.

They know the majority will just go along with anything that is
thrown at them. The ones who don’t get hanged in some form or
another. The numbers of people standing up for themselves is
simply too low. The rest are on the backside of the mountain
pretending nothing is happening. Just rowing their boat in time
to “Spirit in the sky”. That’s a nice tune to catch.

I am probably guilty of being idol about this kind of stuff not
because of care but rather the scale. Even the notion of a vote
has been delegitimized by the mail in stuff. Soon they'll have
AI with a vote. Idk the whole thing seems to be a big money
machine. At least it's a conversation you can have if you care
to do something about it. Im glad I'm on a state that has no
issue with standing up for what it believes in. And I kinda like
the way Trump is at least direct. He doesn't really care if you
like him or not but he's real as a politician can get I suppose.
I think on a larger scale the issue is lies and deception in any
arena.

J) re: the larger scale - including the lies and deception that
there is something to be had on top of the mountain? I have
always suspected that all the spiritual literature is just that.
A place to hide more of this. Keep them busy, with jobs, more
bureaucracy, flood the market with spiritual stuff so that
people think there is more than what's in front of them. Give
them AI, always something to deter people thinking for
themselves. An escape from the insanity they have created with
more wars and poverty, keep them chained like dogs to a fence
while they dole out pieces of bread with their one world
government and universal basic income. After all it's for our
safety and well being, a sales job that seems to work every
time.

Not hard to separate "no Kings" historically (ie. founding
fathers of America) from the asinine "No kings" marches by the
current crop of blue haired libtards that the media loves to
sensationalize. Totally agree with the first version and
couldn't agree less with the second.
As for the broader spectrum, over here there isn't one. If one
shows up, I'll deal with it then, not worry about it now. That
doesn't mean I'm not "reading tea leaves" or trying to gauge how
world events will affect this slice of the pie I'm dealing with,
of course I maneuver based on information that I can glean as
"real" or credible, then make choices according to my
understanding of what will be good for my tribe here, like
Justin, I don't see how I have any power beyond my walls, it's
always been as simple as "take care of your offspring/tribe"
correct?
Worrying about anything beyond that is self indulgent and a
waste of energy IMHO...
PS. And I do have guns, I know how to use them and I didn't sell
all that stuff in the '90's when the wall fell and idiots
thought that humanity had finally stopped warring with their
neighbors. If it comes to that and I'm still alive I'll have no
problem defending the first iteration of "No Kings" and no
dictators as well...

Hmm.. yet, you find such colourful vivid words to describe
around 7 million people. Like.. smack the beasts! Where's the
love, people, where's the love suddenly gone?? Theoretical love?
I personally view both sides as extremists who cannot see the
woods behind the trees and who, yes, use expletives on one
another, just like you did in your short version above. Who
placed those words in your mind, but another bunch of lunatics,
be it on the left or on the right? And does this not make you
'one of them', be it on the left or on the right? Why stoop so
low?
Plato, the guns won't save you when the state gets full control.
People had the guns. The guns are nothing against a well
organised state army that can crush you in days. No partisan war
has ever won a war. Armies did.
Let me give you a couple of facts.. There are only three
European countries that have not had an authoritarian
rule/dictatorship in the past 150 years: Sweden, Switzerland and
the UK. EVERY other country in Europe was at some point subject
to dictatorship. The majority population remembers that. We here
are awaiting the 3d of November. I mean.. you have children and
grandchildren, right? Do you want them at some point to hang off
the trees or shot in cellars? So will you be there in November
OR like the Russians you will say 'politics is not my business'
and then find yourself under immense dictatorship?
Or, like a proper enlightened being you will not partake? Do you
know that Jed McKenna, aka Peter Johnson now, votes every time
the elections are up? Take that, Mr. High Mountain Dweller. :)

The things I found on the mountain top (the hated metaphor!!),
to name a few:
1. Clarity, the biggest prize to me
2. Love in the form of understanding (similar to Platos'
perception given elsewhere)
3. Horror of Emptiness, nothing forever as in death
4. Laughter at human concerns
5. Emotional detachment
6. Freedom to be me
7. Meaninglessness of life
8. Joy of Small Things
9. Complete aloneness
I came back down; it was not a choice, but a natural
progression. Life goes on, nothing has changed but the
perspective, the mountain looks like the mountain again, no
mystery. I am still a dumb f*ck, just like McKenna reckoned
himself.
I don't know why some people do not. My guess would be it brings
some form of comfort. As they say 'the holy place is never
empty', and one notion of life simply gets replaced by a bigger
notion of life. Or perhaps the human sense of achievement (a
form of ego) says 'Looked at this, I managed!! I got it!!' and
we want to hold on to this and to parade it, mostly to
ourselves.
I don't call this enlightenment; the word itself makes a big
huh-hah out of nothing. It cannot be taught or passed on,
because this is a natural and very individual process of mind
development when all accumulated life experience results
(sometimes quite suddenly) in deep understanding and alters
one's perceptions forever. Why for some and not others? Well,
why is maths easy for some and not others? Why can Plato draw
and I can hardly hold the pencil straight? Individual
differences, I guess. I don't know.

Yeah, you got me :D historically I def lean Libertarian and my
little rant above is more a recollection of my past feelings
than the reality of my day to day... those guns haven't been
fired in decades, mostly clung to now because of who they came
from more than any sort of usefulness they might have. I do
vote, it's the voice I do have although in this state it's a
foregone conclusion where the electoral votes are headed
regardless of anyones vote.
Your list hits the bullseye here as well.

Love your take here, G - although I’d word some of it very
differently (of course, as is my wont).
Some thoughts about the mountain: you can elect to stay on it,
but then you squander your Buddhahood by making it an ego trip…
if it isn’t “for all beings” then it just ain’t real.
I’m an unabashed urban buddha (no caps). This means I get
splashed and muddied by ego all the time, my own and others -
it’s part of the territory and precisely why those mountain
Buddha pussies stay on the mountain.
The difference is I have been to the mountain - right to the
top. I grokked the view, so while things can sure get sticky at
times - it no longer stains. And I can go back any time, because
I’ve walked the terrain and don’t need anybody’s map… I keep one
toe on the mountaintop, as it were.
This is why I like to come back here periodically and chew the
fat. We’re all pointing fingers at the same moon … mostly. And
‘phemming the ephemeral’ is a fun hobby of mine, hangover of
being a former English and Japanese teacher.
Further, I study, use and develop disciplines that keep things
this way, as an ongoing part of my spiritual and psychosocial
hygiene.
Is this “a spiritual ego”…?
Sure. Whatever.
I’m interested in your ‘no kings’ rejoinder to my comment - it
made me glad to read because my only exposure to it so far has
been via mass media. I will more of what you wrote next I have a
moment to read.
