Jed quote from Jedvaita
DIR By: Plato
Date: July 30, 2022, 12:27 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
"In order to awaken in or from the dreamstate, we must release
our emotional baggage, but most people insist on dragging it
around with them. You can let it go the easy way or the hard
way, but you gotta let it go. This is the real camel through the
eye of a needle stuff. You either stay attached and stay behind,
or you drop your junk and make your journey, but you can't do
both. You can't take it with you"
- Jed McKenna
This is what a lot of the discussion in here has been about
lately, do you hang onto all your thoughts and assumptions about
the world and actually continue to add to them or do you drop
them so you can make the journey to whats next? There's no
crossing this desert with anything but a canteen and maybe not
even that...
When I started doing this work in earnest, 24 hrs a day (after
finding the trilogy) it was kind of a mystery to me how I was
supposed to do autolisys, Jed kind of explains it but not
really, the problem is; How do you figure out what stuff to
drop? It's nearly impossible to see something as releasable when
you've been carrying it your entire life, when it seems
intrinsic to who you are and the idea of letting go of it is
equivalent to cutting your hand off and tossing it to the side.
No wonder NO ONE is interested in taking this journey, even if
they act like it's the most important thing in the world.. You
only do this if you have to.
It's kinda like your smartphone, is anyone here going to
voluntarily set theirs down and walk away? Now times that by
infinity and you have what must be left behind.
Speaking of what must be left behind, how does one figure out
what to drop if it feels like you will die without it? Start
small. If you're not writing, start. When writing think about
what you are connected to, what you can't live without, not
physical items although they may be on the list, this is more
about what concepts you believe in, hold onto, ask why, why
do I believe this and how did that happen.
When I started, long before Jed had written "Damndest" I had
conflicting feelings about my religion, I started writing and I
was shocked at the anger that was hiding inside and around these
conflicting feelings. As I wrote I picked at elements that I
wasn't sure about (tithing, service, faith etc.) and picked
through them until I found some clarity, over and over, piece by
piece until finally after about 2 or 3 months I had gotten to
the bottom of what I believed about my childhood religion, which
turns out wasn't much and yet I had believed and lived it to
whatever degree up till I started asking questions. That's the
insidious nature of what you think you know, until you question
it, it seems totally real and true.
Then it was on to politics and family and a thousand other
area's of life where programming from childhood just held sway
without ever being challenged. I eventually questioned all my
beliefs and why/how I came to those beliefs, as you get nearer
the end the release gets more and more difficult because these
are your very very cherished beliefs, this is when the firm
footing you thought you were on turns into that slippery,
downhill path, sliding and skidding out of control towards?
Here, the last concept to go, what actually tipped the whole
thing off the cliff, was the belief that "My" God Consciousness
experiences were special and important and consequently made
"me" special and man was I clinging to that like a life
preserver... Oh Fvck did that hurt, when the realization came
that they had to go, that was the cascade failure of
everything... devastating and stunning... then Nothing. The
equanimity of all things.
This is why it takes a minimum of 2 years, you have a lifetime
of beliefs and assumptions about every aspect of your reality,
they fill your cup to the brim, to move forward you have to
empty that cup. You've got a camel laden to the hilt with every
idea and concept you've ever gathered and that camel can't cross
the desert with you, it has to stay and you have to go on alone.
Seems like the end of everything and it is but everything is an
illusion.
Once that chasm is crossed, life is a gift, every second feels
different and REAL in a way that it never could have before...

"So there I was, living my outdoorsy, lumberjacky life, when
out of the blue, and despite feeling like a teenager, and
despite lack of causative factors (no stress, no drugs or booze
or smoking, pretty good diet, etc) I have a crazy-ass heart
attack." (jedvaita)
"At the root of the fear of passion is fear of rage against
those who ignored your boundaries and made you do what they
wanted you to do. So rather than touch into that rage you just
slide right over the top and pretend it doesn't exist. I see
anger as a personal thing, rage as transpersonal. People are
afraid of becoming angry because they are terrified of being
possessed by rage. So they just skate. In their dreams they
skate or ski, but it takes ice and snow to skate and ski, which
means feeling is frozen. So rather than live in summer and
spring, they just freeze. No gentleness, no flow! The heart is
closed and they will tell you they feel nothing. They know what
love is supposed to be, but as for feeling it, they never felt
any emotion in their bodies. Is it any wonder heart attacks are
our number one killer? Our own hearts are asking us to become
conscious of what is happening in our matter. Earthquakes are
asking us to become conscious of what is happening in our Great
Mother's matter." (Marion Woodman - Conscious Femininity)

At the root of the fear of passion is fear of rage against those
who ignored your boundaries and made you do what they wanted you
to do
The government ignores our boundaries all the time, and has no
problem whatsoever in taking away even basic human rights, or
even the basic ability for food and shelter. At the "heart" of
all emotion is feeling it. Rage, anger, whatever. Feeling it
time and time again, does that really dissipate it, when the
stomach is growling? Without food, it takes approx 48 hours for
chaos to reign. And that's just food, never mind any other
atrocity that is forced upon people. i know I am always throwing
the practical into the picture. It's one thing to say, we are
only awareness and there is no me, no you, no one is doing
anything, but take away food, and let's see how the game is
played then.

Have to point out the fact that society has been built on a
structure of greed, gluttony, and graft.
A rational society would tend toward educating and sharing that
which is learned.
A rational society would consider education and health care a
necessity.
We do not live in a rational society!

You can try to fix the "System" or you can sort out your reasons
for caring about the fairness of the system.
Or you can sit back and judge the entire thing. being right
about all your thoughts about it.
Your choice, I've tried all three and I know what worked here, I
can really only speak to that and it's effectiveness here.

I do think that all of you who have crossed that bridge, see
everything from a completely different perspective and that it
works for you. For any of us, who are still crossing the bridge,
there are still streams to cross and boulders to get through.

Absolutely and as Jed explained in Damnedest, he spent years
knowing he was different than other people but not understanding
what that was, "dreaming highly fictionalized dreams of being a
butterfly" when he had already crossed over but had no clue what
had happened. That's what it was like in here if you go back and
read old threads, lots of not quite getting it... A bunch of
moths hovering around an open flame but very few taking the nose
dive into the flame itself and ending a lifetime's worth of lies
and mis-information in one fell swoop.

If you don't like the System you could always leave it and
become free as a butterfly, just look at Jeds.*
*requirements: rich daddy or lack of attachment to moral values
OR once you see that your own driver is just as incompetent as
those who govern this world.. you could start searching for a
new one. While I can see some inspirations in Jed's writings
concerning the former, I fail to see anything useful in them
when it comes to the latter.

I just don't know how one exits the system since we are all
dependent on it.....but it's probably a perspective thing and
not being attached to anything, including our own bodies, minds,
or anything else. Although my body with it's aches and pains and
contractions, says, forget the mind, here is what is really
going on, you're fooling yourself. I have always had difficulty
with this, living in this world the way it is, and seeing it as
just an illusion.

"That blackness is the way to the light, the only way, but it’s
all just talk and theory until you pass through it and confirm
it for yourself. Voices urging you onward from behind lack
authority and those hailing you from the far side don’t
convince. Until you go yourself, that no-man’s land is the void,
the abyss -- the scariest thing in the world"
Jed McKenna
This comment from the recent Jedvaita email is totally and
completely accurate from "my" experience. There is no way to
explain it (although anyone who has experienced it has to try
for at least a time). And no way to pass it on (the Buddha can't
lend "you" his passport, you've got to go get your own). And so
we chat about it in here with those interested in making the
journey, those who are seemingly tired of living a lie.
