Hello and welcome to Platos Kave!
This forum was created as a retreat for spirited discussion on
the seemingly mercurial nature of Enlightenment. A place to
relax with your cup of java (Ka've') to explore specific themes
inferred in Plato's cave allegory and updated to the cinema
analogy by Jed Mckenna in the first book of his trilogy,
Spiritual Enlightenment, the Damnedest Thing. It is meant to be
causal as well as casual, the intention being that while any
serious exploration of personal enlightenment is by nature a
singular endeavor, there is still room for discussion, support
and levity from others exploring similar ground.
Liken it to the early trappers and mountain men exploring
uncharted territory, few even dared these wilds and while many
traveled alone, one can only assume they all approached campfire
on a distant ridge warily, assessing the fire tender's veracity
while attempting to gather any information about the immediate
country and beyond, nearby pitfalls, hostiles, dead end trails
and box canyons as well as info on the best hunting grounds. At
worst he could expect a little sustenance and at the very least
a bit of camaraderie on his occasionally lonely sojourn.
So it is here, a place for the few who actually set out, to
research the knowledge shared by others, warm your hands by the
fire and gather (release) thoughts. A trading post where
information and stories can be shared on THE most amazing
       journey one can take.
       A couple of basic rules:
1 Rather than having a thousand threads to search through, make
your own personal thread for questions and responses rrom forum
members and then we can also have threads about standard
subjects like "ACIM" or "Good Books" or "Damnedest" as these
       develop they may become stickies.
2 No flaming, if you want to pick on someone go find your little
brother. Spirited debate is welcome. No disputes.
3 Members must have read Jed McKenna's "Damnedest". This is a
platform for communication about topics that don't translate
well into language, Damnedest is "home base" for this forum,
shared knowledge of it is an important prerequisite for
intelligible conversation and communication (is that even
possible?) as well as separating the serious finder from the
       dilettante.
4 Post anything here that has to do with your journey, you can
import post's from the Jed Mckenna forum if you would like to
discuss particular issues brought up there (since there is no
       way to discuss them there).

In response to these questions about "who is the Enlightened guy
around here?" and "what is the working format for this forum?"
posted by Super Nintendo, we have the following answers
currently for anyone wondering the same:

Okay so you are a truth realized guy, correct? You said Done
started here, personal ego implosion, so this is what you meant?
Is there an ideal working dynamic you want for this forum? On
Jed's forums there is very clear roleplay where he plays the
teacher/enlightened guy and the people who come there play the
student which allows a constructive dialogue to emerge. Here I
don't know why you're establishing the role of enlightened guy.
It doesn't lend any credibility to anything anyone says whether
it be Jed, Buddah, whomever, and so with no clear purpose to the
role the only function it serves for you is to demand support
       which causes friction among members.

       >
       > Seems that you like to make assumptions. No one here is "the
enlightened guy" and for what it's worth no one here believes in
one. That may be your function. Anytime there is disagreement
here it's a pretty good indicator that someone thinks they know
something they don't. Sound familiar? Attacking beliefs is one
of the things that happens here but when the dust settles and
your left looking at your own is when you're likely to make real
progress, not into "enlightenment" but as a grown as* human
       adult.

of IGF to discuss any and all concepts and questions anyone may
have regarding Jed's trilogy and the nature of abiding non-dual
awareness. To that end if you are interested in a more formal
       welcome here read this:

       > When someone shows up and either asks a question or seemingly
disagrees with another's input on a question posed by someone
else, they can at least expect the courtesy from any/all
members, of a response, which drives most of the discussion in
this forum. Currently we have been discussing many questions
from Crystal, if you'd like to participate in that discussion it
might be a good idea to read the 7 pages of backstory on this
thread (and possibly other recent threads) to understand why any
member might take a certain path to try to explain the ineffable
nature of The Way. Not from an objective viewpoint (which is
impossible unless one claims godhood) but from a personal
viewpoint which, while assailable in theory and discussion, it
is also certainly unassailable because it is a singular
experience and one's personal vision of what works/worked for
them concerning the end of suffering and bondage to programming
       and ego.
       >
       > What we have found is that through these discussions, everyone
is basically blindfolded but by feeling their one part of the
elephant and then expressing their experience they may possibly
"enlighten" the rest to what another portion of the "whole
       elephant" looks like.
       >
       > That being said, say what you will, let the chips fall where
       they may.
       >
       > The only thing we are done with concerning this forum are;
Trolls, hecklers, and just plain a$$holes who add nothing to the
conversation. Welcome to the forum. :)
