Purpose

Because the playground has gone berserk:
I'd like to discuss the purpose of any living organism, etc.
The primary purpose of any organism is survival. (I would
expect a yea from any organisms)
Survival implies adapting or manipulating the environment to
benefit the organism. (Again, I would expect a yea from any
organisms) (IE: make the life experience better)
Sustainable procreation (Too many babies thrust into the world.)
(Organisms might agree)
And pleasure is an unadvertised purpose.
Crazy how so many resources are spent to avoid pleasure.
Just my point of view.

You're speaking from the point of view that there is an actual
organism in this world and that this world it lives in is
actually real reality, and above that, you apparently think
there is an actual purpose.
I don't believe that, so I have nothing to ad to this
conversation.

The definition of Purpose is: the reason for which something is
done or created or for which something exists.
Hmmm, "The reason for" anything is always suspicious to me. I
tend not to stay there too long either because well, you'll
never find the actual "reason" for anything - anywhere and what
you're simply left with is its isness.
However, I guess the mind doesn't get too hung up here for me
and from a personal perspective "my purpose" is to embody
excellence. To engage the actual moment in a way that, in a way,
does my part to bring about the best in each singular moment and
each subsequent experience and interaction. And by engaging the
moment for what it is, I dont actually require purpose in that
moment other than to be with it. Actually, in order to be in the
flow, I can't have any ulterior motive. So to me in a way the
two things I've said above aren't actually contradictory at all.

People seek pleasure outside of themselves all the time and can
have purpose and intention all they want but what he's saying
and generally what I'm resonating with these days is that no
matter what your purpose is you had better find the joy in who
you are or what your engaged with now or you're just chasing
phantoms.
Sort of a purposelessness, on purpose as the back door to
sustainable pleasure that emanates from you and isnt dependent
on circumstances. Achieving wellbeing by simply being well.

The primary purpose is procreation...pushing DNA forward in
time, for eternal ends we can only guess at. Survival is
subordinate to procreation.
F^ck the craziness. Ignore it... it’s just Atmanic consciousness
adjusting to the effects of higher order integration, causing
friction with Maya. She’s pushing back by ramping up the
insanity. Makes sense ... what are you going to do, what’s your
plan...?

No plan. I watch what's happening and try to focus my energy on
what it is I prefer, what it is I would like to see happening
next, instead of on the insanity that's apparently around me,
which is, of course, nothing else but projection. To have a
chance on a changing outside projection one needs to dig deep
inside ones mind (not brain, but mind, preferably "big M" Mind)
to find out why the projection is as it apparently is... and
then change your mind about the outside world/projection instead
of fixing the world/projection itself.
Well, guess I do have a plan after all. [emoji15]

It's hard to discern purpose when one doesn't care!
The playground has gotten more than a bit irrational => insane.
What species would hoard knowledge, require money for education
and healthcare?

Hi guys! Just came back to see if my lack of notifications is a
tech thing or a lack of content thing...
Just reading this last thread here, about purpose...have we ever
discussed the wetiko mind virus? I was reading about it a few
years back and (who needs to hear about more mass-insanity,
right?) stopped short of reading Paul Levy's book on the topic.
But then I just stumbled across this article that brought it all
back - WHAMMO!

I've been underground, on the edge now of completing a year's
fulltime study in mental health, via a diploma in counselling.
I've just been offered a nice, plum 2-hour Saturday night
timeslot back at my old radio station 107.9FM and am going to
use it to dangle a shingle in the mental health space - takes
one to know one, right? ;D
But in line with Ray's OP, about purpose... mine seems to have
become tracking my own insanity in the 'outer world' and
dialoguing with it.
Can I ask anybody here in our little group for your
consideration of what you are doing now and how it has been
impacted by the little parallel journeys we all undertook
together for a while? While our trajectories have all been
unsurprisingly different, the place we arguably all touched1 is
- if it is indeed anything at all2 - one and the same.
Which, as a nominal human yourself, you have to agree is a
pretty frikn remarkable experience.
This board is still here and - like Mr. Jung - I don't believe
in coincidences.
1 ...and therefore necessarily have at least a psychological
pinky-toe still resting upon.

I like that Mike, I'll just tell people I caught a mind virus
that taught me how reality works and just tell them to look it
up to save us both time lol
I've often considered what hashing it out with you guys and
reading Jed McKenna books meant...chalked it up to alot of
growing up on my behalf. Looking at things from different
angles. Looking at things for what they are. Using experience to
lend to understanding lending to improving experience. Id be
game to talk about any aspect of that really as its an ongoing
process.
Glad to see you're putting your experience and understanding to
good use because if you can help people while you're at it then
why not?

Well, as you may remember, I've been on and off and on and off
this board many times over because of collisions or clashes of
ego's — most of the time mine. And I needed that to grow, and I
did, I grew up and became a spiritually en mentally adult.
That's why I decided to settle down in this group of
board-people now that this ego thingy of mine is pretty much
silenced.
What I am doing now is writing about my perspective, which I
call (in line with Jed McKenna's writings) the adult
perspective. I write for a weblog and I write on Facebook, and I
am writing something that may or may not someday become a
(God-forbid) book. Sometimes someone finds my on the internet
and has questions or is stuck, and then I try my best to help
them, free of charge.
That's what I do and I hate to admit it (nah, just joking... or
am I?), you guys did play a part in it.
So thank you! [emoji120]
