Depression and awakeness (or however you wanna call it)

Wondering about your opinion... which is probably directed to
Steve and Justin, because the rest is extremely quiet around
       here.
Anyway, just wondering about depression. Even though we are not
that body-mind-construct, it (the body) still has qualities
within this Dreamstate. Right? So, even though a thing like
depression isn't mine or about me, still the body I appear to
inhabit (or drive? how should one call it?) can be prone to
       depression.
This would mean, as is my experience, that even though the "I"
(whatever the fck that is) is "awake" (again, whatever the fck
that is) it can still experience depression when the body is
prone to depression -- as this body I inhabit apparently is at
       times.
Which means that at times there is depression, but it's not mine
and not about me... only part of the experience. Which means
within the context of this body there appears to be a
depression, but "I" am not depressed. So, "I" don't suffer from
depression, "I" experience depression, but it's not mine. Agree
       or not?
The thing is that really spiritual people claim that depressions
seize to be after (what they call) "Enlightenment", and I say
they fool themselves, because depression has nothing to do with
what they really are, it just is or isn't part of de
body-mind-construct the apparent "I" is attached to, or seems to
       be attached to.
       Anyway... guys... your thoughts? :)

I have many thoughts on this fritz. My reply wont be as long as
usual because I'm currently at work but I went through this
       phase as well.
A quick response for the time being is that one needs something
to push them onward or further. A purpose. That can be many
things and it's best if you determine what that is for yourself.
I'll be back when I have more time to discuss this.
Hang in there buddy. This too shall pass.

I also quiet the mind and meditate a lot. Not in the sense of
trying to get something out of it but to become aware of the
story I am telling myself. Everything is a story. Including the
story of depression and having a purpose. Just because we know
these things doesn't mean that we cant use tools from the dream
state to better live within it. So if you're going to tell a
story you could at least make it a good one. :)
Be aware of what you focus on. There are an infinite number of
things and ways that you can focus your attention. In order to
be depressed you have to focus in a certain way on certain
things. Try switching focus to things that uplift and inspire
       you.

Lastly you could just allow the feeling of being depressed and
it will eventually dissipate. The only way that feelings and
emotions stay stuck within you is if you push them down or
resist them. Just let them be. Breathe with them. Then let it
go. Then switch your attention to how you would rather feel
       instead.
These are just things that worked for me. Everyone is different.
Gotta go though. Keep us posted.

Oh yeah and get out into nature. Exercise is also a great way to
       free up stuck emotions. 🖤

Thanks, J., but that was not the question or my point.
Like I said, there is depression, but I don't have it, it is not
mine... so there's no need to get rid of it.
Please read my first entry again without the need to come up
       with solutions. :)

       Frits,
Your question seems to be ( if i'm right) 'can I be enlightened
and depressed at the same time ?'
Or maybe it's not a question but your opinion that you can have
       both.
I don't know; and what does it matter ?
You just have a depression and I guess you want to get rid of
       it.
       wish you the best,
       jacoba

No, there's no need to get rid of it, because it's not mine and
       there's nothing wrong with it.

I've really not read a better quote on depression than this one
from Jed, probably found it in the 2nd book but possibly the
3rd, I saved it and have passed it on many times to people
experiencing some form depression. My own past version of
depression, clinically diagnosed as Dysthymia, hasn't been
around since the bang but then again neither has the occasional
bump of euphoria, like they say "everything just is..."
"Depression is fear with hope removed, it arises as we discover
that something we thought could be ours will never be ours.
Unhappiness is when we worry about not having something.
Depression is when we realize we will never have it and freedom
is when we realize that nothing is ours and nothing can be ours,
so that in effect nothing isn’t ours… Anyone who seems about to
succumb to morbid despair is actually experiencing the onset of
human adulthood, the precursor to enlightenment, a
       prerequisite."
       Jed Mckenna
In your case Fritz, maybe your bout of depression has something
to do with the thought that "you" were enlightened and the
recent bump up against the reality that "you" can't be anything
has left a residual emotion in there somewhere. Or it could
simply be biological, low seratonin (sp?) or some thing, just
because one "isn't" doesn't mean the body doesn't have diabetes
or a heart condition or depression (if it's a real physical
       malady and not purely mental).
