hauling it back down the mountain

For your delectation and delight. Love, hate or remain
indifferent to him, here’s a guy who’s currently going deep into
the dirtiest parts of the plumbing of our civilisation... found
this that he published four years back, talking about where he’s
coming from...hmmm.

Hey B, nice to hear from you! :)
I got as far as: "And I felt, the good thing to do, the right
thing to do, the responsible thing to do was to go back and help
others..." sorry bro, thats where I have to get off the train,
go back and guru because you WANT to, there is no other reason
and all his reasons for going back are just his ego's need to
placate a dichotomy, to justify it's choices by utilizing the
bogus Bodhisatva call to "stay behind until all sentient beings
are saved".
It's crap, do what you do because you want to, any other reason
or validation is ego, pure and simple.

Hahaha, Plato, I couldn't watch one second of it... all I saw
was an enormous ego showing off how wonderful and important he
believes to be. So I stopped watching, can't take that kinda
sh1t anymore. :)

(Sorry, I missed your response, Sklato, and other thread posts,
as I had notifications switched off. I came back to say hi and
share and see what you guys have been up to. I'll try to catch
up on the other threads I've noticed. )

Oh, totally! No contest on that...I'm not retreating back up the
mountain any time soon and have stopped vilifying ego, but
continue instead with my chosen project to deconstruct this
accumulated life.
"Done" is really only the end of questions about what is, not
the actual work part of cleaning up what-is-not. That emptiness
where I had long-dreamed an "I" was cannot be disidentified and
has framed (or, rather, defenestrated) everything since.
This and my current unwillingness to depart Seahaven for good
explains why I went through the mental wellness tools and
techniques that I was studying for a few years. Last year I
stumbled upon an actual, bona fide Autolytic program (there's
nothing 'spiritual' about any of this ...unless it all is),
which has become quite a useful tool I've been slowly and much
more thoroughly working through and by which I've been able to -
like an old balloon, reanimate the persona and see through its
eyes things like "my family", "my childhood", "my career" and
"my politics", what's happening "out in the world" and, through
an entirely new perceptual lens of my own continuous grinding,
watching what's happening.
And - beginning with ND (as opposed to finishing with it), it is
all these kind of 'techniques' that have kind of been
self-organising as a range of tools that I am loosely calling
"mental hygiene" (being practices that promote healthy
introspection, integration and wellbeing). It is through the
research to discover and experimental application of many of
them myself that the long-term funk I awoke within (before I
knew of Jed) has utterly dissipated.
And given First World mental unwellness is endemic enough to
show up in the flesh of fish as measurable amounts of
anti-depressant, having been urinated into coastal waterways,
I'm pretty happy to share what I'm learning, instead of watching
smugly from the transcendent heights.
This is why I continue to do my modest radio show, to share with
listeners and talk with others likewise treading their own path.
I started back three weeks ago after a three month hiatus
(travels and retooling)but it's been running for coming up two
years now.
No gurudom here, just empirical observation and un-ironic
amusement to observe mainstream psychs and psychoanalysts
donning beads and hand-woven cotton garments and delivering
workshops on mindfulness, veganism and nature appreciation.
Curiosity and disdain likewise for the PC Cultural Marxists
trying to seize power from "the Patriarchy" through the
intersectional application of nihilism - but only to be
expected, really.
Bringing us back to Molyneux. He's quite an ethno-nationalist,
which makes it even curiouser. I find him a little irritating,
personally, especially when he tries to be funny, but then he
also offers some really perceptive nuggets as well. I was well
impressed with his podcast on the fall of Rome.
I only shared that video with you because I stumbled across it
in surprise, after watching a number of his historical lectures.
He came through our city a few months back and I didn't know who
he was and didn't see him either, but his talk was fresh, very
bold and iconoclastic when I viewed it afterwards on YouTube.
Have any of you taken an interest in the debates between Jordan
Peterson and Sam Harris?

Ive been watching a lot of Christopher Hitchens debates lately,
so entertaining! talk about an iconoclast, too bad he left the
planet seemingly a little early. I've read both Peterson and
Harris, of the two I lean toward Harris although his is a dry
atheism, lacking an understanding or experience of the "love"
end of the spectrum that comes with a god-consciousness
experience. Peterson, while doing a pretty decent job of
defending the indefensible (religions' role in society), comes
off as an arrogant ass most of the time, I had to force my way
to the end of his 12 rules for life, it starts out great with
his lobster story but gets so bogged down as he slogs through
his religious beliefs, his constant "I" "I" "I" gets a bit
nauseating.
I'll have to check out the debates, didn't know they had
debated.
Sounds like you're busy as ever B, good on ya mate, good to here
from you as always. ;)

Glad to hear - loved Hitch! Just a quick one:
Peterson doesn't defend religious institutions, per se - as in,
the often militant worship of imaginary old, white robed men
riding cloud chairs. Rather, he champions the wisdom contained
in thousands of years of religious stories, distilled from
millions of years of accumulated lived experience, transferred
between generations as the very OS of human (predominately
Western) culture, that already solved a lot of the fundamental
evolutionary survival issues that allowed our current gene pool
to bootstrap itself out of the stone age and launch itself into
space, before becoming mired in self-destructive wars and
ideologically sticky mind traps, such as the dichotomy between
Marxism and Capitalism, as well as techno-worship, social media
narcissism and consumerism.
He doesn't dismiss the God part of religion though either,
preferring that the element of mystery …that the wizard be
granted the dignity of remaining behind the curtain, to remind
us not to devolve into hubris or nihilism…whereas Harris (in
their widely publicised debates together - 2 in Vancouver
moderated by Bret Weinstein, 1 in Dublin and another in London,
both moderated by Douglas Murray) exhorts us to pull back the
curtain and be done with religion altogether, because of its
obvious downside (Islam and pedo priests, for starters). Check
out the YoutUbe channel for Pangbourn Philosophy, who hosted the
debates. The Dublin and second Vancouver debates are my faves.
I don't think they actually disagree on almost anything, but
spin their beautiful webs for the benefit of the crowds to
demonstrate that it's time to pull it all apart and have a good
look, because time for our civilisation is running short.
It's truly a great time to be alive…and have one foot on the
mountain, which is the best possible seat in the house.
