Quiet

It's awfully quiet here. I guess it's what you get when birds of
a feather flock together.
"How's your enlightenment?"
"It's cool. And yours?"
"Cool also."
"Cool."
"Yeah, cool."
I must admit I like it better this way. ;D

Hmm, don't really have a preference, other than alignment with
what is. Quiet seems to be what is.

Thankfully I'd see that stuff for the joke it really is. "Being
out of alignment with what is" was never even a possibility. I
am what apparently is. But this stuff seems to fall on deaf ears
around here. Oh well. Seems there is only one.

If you are what is, and you walk in on your girlfriend in bed
with your best friend, what does that make you? Still what is? I
don't get your schtick, since you are what is, then whatever you
are is fine? Depressed, suicidal, angry, jealous... to you all
of this is just "what is" and you are it? WTF does that even
mean?

Well yeah Steve. How do you not see that the whole (inherently
neutral) situation you've just described is 100% you? How did
the two individuals become yours (your girl, your best friend)?
How is what they are doing affecting me unless I'm not seeing
that I'm the creator of the "problem"? How did any state of
being become something "bad" that needs fixed or dealt with? You
you you.
I'm not saying that I'm to a point that I'm just good with
everything but I recognize my creatorship in EVERYTHING and if I
don't like something or just can't bear it thats my cue that
something is off. Like I've said 1000 times I am always creating
my reality and I recognize that I can either change the
situation itself or my perception of it.
Honestly yes I've been doing this for over the past couple of
years and at this point even if I got seriously pissed off and
derailed with something like that I wouldn't even be caught up
in it for very long because I recognize that I am at times anger
or depression or jealousy ect. So what? No biggie. It's the ego
that is always railing against what was. I'd just get on with
what is and I'd be careful not to create such a problematic
scenario to deal with. May seem radical to you but that is what
happens when you've been calling your own sh*t for an extended
period of time.

Not to be disrespectful or in any way pretending to know how or
where you are, but to me it -- that what you just wrote (see
quote) -- sounds like you are telling yourself you are this way
or live this way and you are convincing yourself this is what
you believe or are experiencing... in other words: I don't buy
it.
But it's okay if it makes you feel good. ;)
Not that I think what you are saying isn't true(ish), I just
don't believe you really honestly do.

This morning I was listening to my neighbors shouting at the
children and the children screaming, something which happens
every now and then and sometimes it gets to me. Then I
wondered what's shouting ( for attention maybe, don't know yet )
inside me, what kind of quarreling is going on there and I
remembered something Nisargadatta said :
"There is only one mistake you are making: you take the inner
for the outer and the outer for the inner. What is in you, you
take to be outside you and what is outside, you take to be in
you."
( nr 51, be indifferent to pleasure and Pain)
Which means I'm those children, those parents and the
irritation I sometimes feel is not 'mine'.

I don't think so; maybe whoever you are, or whatever is
happening is what you want, because it's happening - even if
you think you don't want it. In my experience we seldom know
what's going on inside or under the surface. And turning things
upside down, reversing the inner and outer might give you an
insight into what really going on.
And J( : referring to the title of this topic "Quiet" - it's a
bit funny that Plato's very
quiet remark of wanting to be in alignment with what is made you
lose your 'quiet'.
( well, don't know really but that's how it looked like)

Wow. So you do (in theory based on what you're saying here)
exactly what I mentioned; "that's my cue that something is off"
so, in other words (the ones I used) "I prefer being in
alignment with what is" What you're talking about beyond that
escapes me, but like Frits mentioned it seems you are "trying"
to be in alignment instead of simply having seen through the
structure (me) that keeps one out of alignment... It seems
you're still happy fighting the 1000 headed hydra, one head at a
time instead of just stabbing it in the heart and being free of
it all.
Which is fine, just another (longer) way to get to the same
place, i.e.. death of self, either do it during this life or
wait till the body takes care of it for you.

Plato - My way is of practical use in daily life such as when
someone I care for is struggling with an issue I can help them
work through it in such a manner. Or I could just tell them not
to bother "fighting the hydras" and to "see through the ego" but
most people are going to not find that very useful at all and
disregard me for an out of touch flower child. But hey whatever
works. Seeing through the ego can be done in an instant, I know,
but best of luck with that when things get real and someone
needs your help or "seeing through the ego" doesn't cut it. Go
ask Nessa.
Jacoba - lose my quiet? I bring myself into quietude all the
time. This is a place for discussion. Trying not to react to
things is just a way of suppression and it's not healthy. If you
are seriously to a point where you are not reactive then that's
great. It's one way of dealing with things. I prefer to
experience this thing in full. Just my preference. Worth noting
that you're all likely twice my age and one step closer to
ultimate surrender anyways. I've always been a fighter at my
core. Seems it's going to stay that way. I don't mind if the
elders stay back at the hut. I'm on the front lines. I'll give
up when I'm dead.
Frits - the beauty of finding truth, mine not Jed or some other
gurus is you know what rings true to your core. What's useful
and what can be discarded. At that point what does it matter
what other people think? It doesn't.
Ah well nice chatting with ya folks. There's a whole array of
experience to be had out there and who would want to miss that
;)

Who said anything about helping someone else? You said;
"Thankfully I'd see that stuff for the joke it really is. "Being
out of alignment with what is" was never even a possibility."
And then you go on to basically espouse a philosophy of living
that is basically the opposite of your above statement. "thats
my cue that something is off" off of what? "Alignment with what
is" possibly? What else could it be "off" from? Your diatribe is
more in alignment with my statement than your own initial
statement, even if it's the long road versus the immediate
shift. It's really a confusing bunch of thoughts that slide in
and out of non-dual philosophy as you see fit.
Ok, great, enjoy but I'm not buying. someone yelling 2+2=5
doesn't make it so, but there are a hell of a lot of people
doing it.
