       Secondly, we see NATO as a club of the richest countries and
       their allies. For Ukraine, it would be better to develop
       relations with all countries and ensure real independence.
       Third, it is important to realize how the NATO issue has
       impacted Ukrainian political life. The prospect of membership
       was very vague: NATO has never guaranteed Ukraine's membership.
       So an “Atlantic orientation” was always more of a case of
       wishful thinking on the part of the government, whereas for the
       citizenry it was a reaction to the collective trauma and fear of
       war in 2014. NATO could have offered Ukraine membership long
       ago, but instead promised some kind of cooperation, which only
       left Ukraine vulnerable. We believe that NATO has played the
       role of passive spectator in this war.

       Ukraine with weapons. It seems that they are more interested in
       assessing the strength of the Russian army. There have been
       debates on the issue of sending weapons to Ukraine. Some oppose

       Europe and the empowerment of NATO. Others say it will lead to a
       scenario like Afghanistan in the 1980s, with the Ukrainians
       being used to achieve the US goal of undermining Russia.

       What is your position on this issue? I see no reason for a
       debate like this. Talking about the risks of remilitarization in
       Europe is totally ill-founded, because there is an impressive
       asymmetry between Ukraine and Russia. The future of
       demilitarization lies in stopping Russia's war machine now.
       Safety issues should be of great concern. Any demilitarization
       that ignores the security of the people, their right to defend
       themselves, and justifies actions to block resistance against
       imperialist aggression is morally incorrect.
