He then walked back to the underground conduit near Leo Tolstoy
Square. Natalia, 42, who is also homeless and caring for Yuriy,
said that about a week later the police also detained her, but
this time they took her to the Lisovyi Masyv neighborhood, north
of Kiev. «Each of us was given a sheet of paper with a number.
"The police accompanied the bus, in which there were 40 people,"
       she said.

why they were being expelled from the
city, they both expressed outrage at these episodes, believing
that they were intended to use them as "cannon fodder" or free
labor to dig trenches. Both acknowledged that they were treated
well, but the police left them in a dangerous place from which
they had to return on their own. When asked for comment, the
Kiev city police stated that officers “did not participate in
(…) the deportation of people without permanent residence in the
       capital.

Although police officers denied that homeless people in Kiev
were being driven out of the city, other homeless people I spoke
to, including Oleh and Misha, reported that something similar
happened to them or people they know. From these reports, it
appears that the Kiev police repeated this “evacuation” several
times after the start of the invasion and until the Russian
troops left the Kiev region. A possible explanation could be the
existence of Russian saboteurs operating in the Kiev region: to
reduce the number of possible suspects, the police may have
decided to remove people who were living on the streets. Back to
normal Today almost a month has passed since Russian troops
       withdrew from the kyiv region.
