What is love?

A girl and her mother sit on a bench outside their house.
The girl looks into her mothers eyes and says: What does that
mean?" She points to her necklace.
The mother chuckles and smooths her daughter's hair. "Oh, this?
Its my locket. Heart shaped. I hold the pictures of who I love
in this heart necklace." She opens it to reveal a picture of her
daughter and son.
"Where is daddy?"
"Oh.. Uh, I still need to add him."
The girl watches a car drive by and looks down at her own heart.
"Why do you have a heart on your necklace? Why a body part?"
The mother then shakes her head. "Hearts are a symbol of
love,sweetheart. Probably because true love means putting your
life and feelings before the ones you care for the most. One boy
could be too fast, another too slow. Soon, you will find the one
who helps your heart feel whole and the right speed,one that
also cares for you over themselves. Those other boys that break
your heart-Dont pay attention to them. Heartbreak is when
someone that has once made your heart feel whole stops giving ou
their love, and this causes your heart and emotions to fail a
little. Sometimes a lot. Dont worry, it is temporary. After, you
should continue keeping your heart going, makingit feel full on
its own. I hope you have very little heartbreaks in your life."
She smiled down at her daughter.
The little girl, who's heart was unsure, said"If you have true
love for me for as long as you can, I will always too. You can
keep my heart this big!" She held her arms out wide.
"I have always loved you. And I will always."
The girl held up half a heart with one hand. Her mom did the
same, making her heart whole.
"I promise."
