Summer Update

Hi everybody!
Haven't heard from Wim Demeyer in a while. We all remember his
health issues from last winter, and we certainly hope those
haven't returned. The problem in this hobby is that when someone
has a health issue, none of your friends here at HAG know about
it until you tell us. Hopefully Wim's issue is simply
computer-related, but if you ever have a health issue of your
own, let us know! You will be amazed at how many pilots here
will reach out to you. When I was diagnosed with cancer in 2011,
the response from this pilot group was a key factor in keeping
my spirits way, way up there. We are family here.
Bill Kirkham is our "new" President, and I say that with a bit
of a chuckle because he's been filling that role for several
months now. He was just the last to hear about it! :) Bill has
been doing a terrific job and now his work behind the scenes is
out in front for all to see. We recently had a long discussion
about the future of HAG and Bill has some very good ideas. HAG
will continue to focus on airline history and making it an
enjoyable VA for those of us who want to enjoy the history. For
added realism, take a few drops of old engine oil and drop them
on your computer processor. Mmm, the smell of burning oil!
Long haul: Such an important part of history. Every airline
always wanted to go farther and faster. Allowing some
accelerated time will allow many to enjoy the fun of long haul
without sacrificing their job jars. Your wives petitioned me on
this, so I bent to their wishes.
We will be adding a few new aircraft, especially on European
routes. New aircraft are a bit of a crap shoot. You go to all
the effort of adding a new type and then only see it used on
three flights in as many months. But we continue, because
sometimes you add one and bingo! Lots of flying!
Destination of the Week. Here is the excuse you need to visit
places outside of your normal rut. You heard me! Sometimes we
find ourselves flying the same routes with the same airplanes.
Mix it up a little! This week we are spotlighting Milwaukee, so
put down that 727 and run a Wisconsin Central L-10 or a North
Central DC3 to some small airport in Wisconsin. Ignore the ILS
and VOR, just run NDB to NDB and rediscover what old school
really means.
Photo forum: It would be nice if more people used this. Feel
free to post a nice picture of your recent flight. Believe it or
not, we really do want to see it!
Sales: A new part of the forum is the sales section. If you have
something you want to sell or give away that relates to
FlightSim, you can post it here. This is for members only.
Bill and I are always ready to hear your comments and
suggestions. Please, feel free to post them! Good or bad, we
want the input that makes this VA a better place to be.

Hi Dave & Bill...
Great stuff that you've proposed. :) New Aircraft and routes,
like that idea. Appreciate all the work you guys are putting in
for our benefit. not an easy task when dealing with 'real life'
too. So thanks again. BTW, which wives did you consult? Not
mine, obviously, otherwise we'd have had 5 mins 'jaunts!' ;)
Cheers
Ralph (SAS 0237)
