[Guide] Chatbox
By: Flybird Date: July 22, 2011, 12:29 am
---------------------------------------------------------
This is for the chat on the home page.
This is mostly done. If you see anything that should be
fixed please let me know right away. Thank you.
So first go to the chat. Enter your desired username and at this
point put anything for your password cause it doesn't matter at
this point. Always join chat "Photography_Forum_Chat". You
shouldn't ever have to enter it, it should always be pre-entered
for you.
Once you are in the chat say, "Hi" to everyone. Then in the
bottom corner of the chat click "Options". Once you do that
click "Register Username". Enter the name you want, you may
change it whenever but ALWAYS log in with that name. Then enter
your password, this will be your FINAL password that you will
log in with everytime also. Now you are registered in the chat.
Make sure that you NEVER give out your password. It is also
recommended that you use a different password than you use
somewhere else, just for security reasons.
Now you that you are registered, you should never have to do
that again.
Now I will tell you what Speakers, Assistant Hosts, Hosts, and
Owners are and can do.
Speaker:Speakers have no power in the chat except for if the
chat gets modorated, which it never should, they still can
speak. Speakers names will show up green and will have the blue
star next to their name.
Assistant Host: This is for regular mods and forum mods. They
can change the topic, kick users, and make temp speakers. They
will show up with orange names and have the orange symbol next
to their name.
Host: Host status will be given to all of the Global Modorators
and Admins. They can change the topic, kick users, ban users,
and can make permanant Speakers, Assistant Host, and Host. They
will show up in blue also and will also have the grey symbol
next to their names.
Founder: There is only one Founder and that is me because I
helped set up the chat and I know how to run it. The founder can
make speakers, assistant hosts, hosts, and owners. Basically
the founder can do anything. The Founder shows up just like the
Owners but at the top of the chat.
That is all about the ranks in the chat.
Below is a list of commands for the chat. Remember that certain
commands can only be used by certain people.
Everything that is in <example> will be replaced by you with the
correct information.
/me
Command: /me <Message>
Effect: Puts a star before your name.
Example: If I sent, "/me Testing this", it would show up in the
chat as "*Flybird is tesing this".
/ignore
Command: /ignore <username>
Effect: Ignores everything from that user including messages,
PCs, and notices.
/unignore
Command: /unignore <username>
Effect: Undo's the ignore command.
/kick
Requires Assistant Host or above.
Commands:
[li]/kick #<roomname> <username>[/li]
[li]/kick #<roomname> <username> :<reason for kick>[/li]
Effect: Kicks user from chat. But they can return.
/notice
Requires Speaker or above.
Command: /notice <username> :<message>
Effect: Sends user a notice, only that specific user sees it.
/privmesg
Command: /privmsg <username> :<message>
Effect: Sends a message to a user through a private chat. PC's
will show up on the side with the names.
/topic
Requires Assistant Host or above.
Command: /topic #<roomname> :<new topic>
Effect: Changes the message at the top of the chat.
/mode
Requires Assistant Host or above.
Command: /mode #<roomname> <status><switch> <parameter>
<status> will be replaced with either a + or a - . And <switch>
will be switched with with a single letter. Letters given later.
They aren't seperated so it will look like "+v".
The result will vary depending on the status and the switch.
Parameter may not be required for some commands.
Switches and statuses:
+v, -v: makes or removes speaker status. For this command you
will enter the persons username into <parameter>.
+h, -h: (requires host or above) Makes assistant host. For this
command you will enter the persons username into <parameter>
+o, -o: (requires host or above) Makes host. The parameter is
the persons username again.
+b: bans. This command allows you to ban a username and someones
IP address (In the chat it calls it your host name.). To ban
just a username you will enter "/mode #Photography_Forum_Chat +b
<username>". But to ban the person's IP/host name you will enter
this, "/mode #Photography_Forum_Chat +b <hostname>"
You can find the host name by clicking that user's name in the
name list then clicking "Veiw profile" and it will show they
host name, once you find it you can copy and paste it.
Here is an example of what a host name will look like,
"ewc-489fba8c.foobar.example.com".
-b: unbans. The parameter must match the previously entered one.
So if someone enters, "/mode #Photography_Forum_Chat +b Flybird"
then you would enter, "/mode #Photography_Forum_Chat -b Flybird"
to unban. If you are trying to unban a host name then enter the
host name instead.
Notice: If you do ban someone, they will not be removed from
chat. You will have to kick them from the chat and then they
will not be allowed back. Just banning them makes it so the
can't come back once they leave.
+s, -s: hides/ unhides the room from the room list. The
parameter is not needed.
+l, -l: Adds/ removes a user limit for the room. The '+'
requires a parameter that is the room limit.
Example: /mode #Photography_Forum_Chat +l 15
That is a list of everything needed to know and a little more.
[move][glow=red,2,300]Here is a special thanks to
aaaaaa123456789 for giving me the list of commands.[/glow]
[/move]
If you have any suggestions please PM me them or just reply in
the thread.
This is mainly done now besides a few updates that may
come later.
Now go rest after all of that reading.

Updated, I added the list of commands and changed a few things
with the ranks. I'm thinking of continuing the rest in another
post. Not sure though. After everything gets set up, I will add
a list of all the poeple with each rank, but I will exclude
people with speaker.
