Report: Kwon Alexander to start serving suspension this week

Buccaneers linebacker Kwon Alexander said recently that he
planned to appeal the four-game suspension he received for
violating the league’s performance enhancing drug policy, which
meant he could keep playing while the situation was being
resolved.
That resolution will reportedly come this week. Rick Stroud of
the Tampa Bay Times reports that Alexander has decided not to
appeal the ban and will start serving his suspension this week.
That means Alexander will not play again during the regular
season, but he would be eligible to play in the postseason
should things fall Tampa’s way on that front.
If Alexander went forward with the appeal, his suspension could
have stretched into the start of next season and it seemed like
a win was unlikely since Alexander said he held himself
accountable for the violation by not checking to make sure the
ingredients of an energy drink were OK by league standards.
Alexander had 10 tackles and a sack in Sunday’s win and would
end his rookie year with 93 tackles, three sacks, two
interceptions and two forced fumbles if he is indeed done for
the season. It was a fairly good showing for the fourth-round
pick, who should be back in at least competition for a prominent
role with the Bucs come 2016.
