Something In The Night (open, Night)

The moon was high and danced behind gray clouds. The light cast
an eerie play of shadows dancing across the ground. The wind
carried the soft scent of water, a sign that a storm was brewing
and iron.....the smell of blood. A couple runs through the thick
of trees far from any signs of civilization, their bearing lost
due to terror and panic. The man holds his side as he trips over
a small ditch "I' can't go on....I can't" He cries out through
pants of exhaustion. The woman tries to help him up. "Honey we
need to keep moving " She whines. her eyes are full of tears and
her blouse is covered in blood, most likely due to carrying her
spouse. He tries to stand with her help but something snatches
him into the shadows. His screams are muffled by the sounds of
something ripping into his flesh. Soon his screams are gone. The
woman takes off, she runs at full speed. She can feel something
behind her, chasing her. She can hear them along side her,
matching her every step. The moon finds its way from behind the
impeding clouds at it shines light as if guiding the woman. In
front of her, she could see it...the parks exit. But so could
the creatures, they would not allows her to escape. Just as
hope seems to be in sight she is tackled from the side. Her
scream pierces the night like a knife and anyone near would be
able to hear it.

Having just gotten off work Thea decided to take a quick walk
around the nearest park to tlrelax and tire herself out a bit
more. She'd just rounded the corner when she heard a blood
curdling scream. Eyes widening she opened her shoulder bag and
pulled out her gun. Walking slowly towards the entrance she
flicked the safety off.

The darkness ruffled with the sounds of bodies muttling through
the bushes. She would feel eyes looking at her through the bush
but the presence never came any closer.

Thea kept her gun raised, a nervous shiver causing it to
slightly waver as she took a few steps closer to the bushes.
"You better not be a punch of kids playing around..." she
muttered.

The creatures stayed hidden in the bush with no answer to her.
Seeing neither would budge in position, the creatures slowly
dispersed.
Soon patriots appeared in response to the scream. The responder
was a young man and two fully uniformed officers. They raised
there guns at the sight of being armed. "Maam put the gun away!"
one of the officers yelled.

Thea swung around, aiming at them with a frown. She saw their
uniform and her lips curled further downward. "Whatever was here
just took off." She explained and lowered her weapon, she didn't
flick the safety back on.

The young man gestured to the two and they put their weapons at
ease "explain what you mean?" the young man said.

" I was taking a walk and I heard a woman scream, I assume
that's why you guys are here, but when I got here nothing was
there. But there might have been something in the buses but it's
gone off now.." she explained and turned around to go
investigate.

"Maam i cant let you go in there, honestly i really should be
confiscating that weapon....unless you have a permit?" the young
man says. He motions for the two officers to check out the bush.
They do ad command and enter with their guns at the ready.

"Good thing I didn't ask you to let me." Thea said, eyes rolling
as she turned away from him to stalk off into the bushes.
