       Wifi Router

In the 3 year old house I bought, I inherited a WIFI router that
is enclosed in a metal box in the laundry room.
I have installed a Verizon signal booster upstairs and that is
       working ok with my computer.
I'm concerned about the occasional signal interruption on the
main tv in the great room. Any suggestions on how to solve that
       problem?
Is it normal to have a router enclosed in a metal box, where it
connects to the coax cables in the house (which are no longer
       used except for where
I used one upstairs to plug in my router.)

I have installed a wi-fi extender and it is interfering with my
       Firestick. Why is that happening?

Hi Marya, you have posted a question as a reply to Bill's
question. It is better to post your question as a new topic so
that we can answer it separately. Anyway, since we are in a
testing situation, I am going to attempt to answer you both.
For Marya's question about interference between the Fios
extender and the Firestick, I think that it is a setup problem.
I am not the expert in WiFi setup and we are not yet in an
operational mode where we would have assign moderators to boards
       that are their respective specialties.
For Bill's question, I find it strange that the router is in a
metal box. I would take it outside the metal box because it has
got antenna and needs to freely send and receive electromagnetic
signals. Try to take it out and just put it on a shelf to see if
       your TV works better.
