Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time
Rumors at # 25
[/center]
Not only is Rumors easily the Best Album Fleetwood Mac ever did,
I personally say this is the one of the Greatest Albums of All
Time, right behind The Beatles' Abbey Road
HTML http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/the-beatles-discography/msg1294/#msg1294,<br
/>KISS' Destroyer
HTML http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/kiss-(the-original-lineup)-discography/msg1585/#msg1585<br
/>and Van Halen's 1984
HTML http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/van-halen-discography-(the-david-lee-roth-years)/msg2052/#msg2052<br
/>So obviously I disagree with where Rolling Stone Magazine
places
this on their 500 Greatest List. There may be plenty of other
albums out there that are technically better than Rumors, but
for me it's what the album means to me on a personal level. They
say that music marks the time it was released and that listening
to any of the songs can instantly take you back to where you
first heard the music. Sights. Sounds. Smells. As big as KISS
HTML http://pennycan.createaforum.com/music/kiss-(the-original-lineup)-discography/msg1575/#msg1575<br
/>influenced my upbringing as a kid, the only other album that
even comes close and at times surpasses recalling where I was at
the time is Rumors. I think it's easier for me to get back into
that kid mode because with KISS I had every album and they all
blurred into one over the years, but with Rumors it was just
that album alone.
If there is one album that I'm against double dipping, it's this
one. This album is so ingrained into my DNA that getting the
2-Disc Deluxe Edition would be too jarring with all the added
content of outtakes and demo's. Part of me wants to check it
out, but the sensibly side of me says to not mess with
perfection. Rumors is basically a soundtrack to my childhood,
along with KISS and a couple of other bands and messing with the
playing order of the Deluxe Edition could in a way alter my
perception of Rumors.
Every single song on Rumors is instant gold. There is no
throwaway song to be found. I can hum and sing every song at the
drop of a hat because they are so memorable. If you haven't
gotten a copy yet, what the hell are you waiting for? Go pick it
up now!
Fave Songs: All of 'em. But I do have to point out some of my
all time favorite songs are in fact on this album: Never Going
Back Again, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, Songbird and Gold Dust
Woman. Sheesh. All on the same album!!!
FYI, my Top 10 Albums of All Time is constantly changing. There
are days when Rumors is at the #1 spot and listening to it
today, it's currently in that #1 spot.

If you have the opportunity to listen to the extended project, I
would say give it a chance. It won't cure your spine and more
than likely the additional tracks won't change your thoughts.
The only extended album I've bought is the Peter Frampton's
classic live. It doesn't have demo tracks. It has songs not
included before. On the opposite end, I bought Kansas Masque
album with the some extra tracks and demo's. Hated it. They were
awful. The only thing I could think why the boys would allow
this was for history and educational purposes. What they started
off with and what they ended up with. I sold it because I didn't
want to be playing the album and listen to that crap.

If I see it dirt cheap at one of the second-hand stores I buy
from, I will probably get it. And then it will probably sit on
the shelf for awhile before I'd pull the trigger and listen to
it.

F*CK YEAH!!!!!!!
Normally I would have put this in the Fleetwood Mac Live thread.
But wouldn't you know it, we don't have one. What the f*ck
Mac!!!! As for Christine, I am soooooooooo happy this is
happening. Hopefully their tour stops in my town because I
really want to go.

Same here. I'm glad to see Christine change her mind. She is
sooooo intergal to the band.
I'd like to see them too. Never have. But I bet it would be
massive.

As it stands now, there are only a handful of dates in North
America. So the likelihood that they are going to hit San Diego
is slim to none. Closes they will get will be in LA and I can
imagine that the tickets will be too much for me to even begin
to contemplate going anyway, which sucks.
