Help me find who this artist is... Down Under

Ever since I heard this particular version of this song, I've
been on a quest to find out who it is (Ok, it's been going years
now. This is ridiculous). I'm fairly confident it is NOT Colin
Hay. The voice is not the same and typically Colin Hay's
acoustic version is slow.

I even go SoundHound app to help me try to pinpoint the
singer/artist. Unfortunately it points to a Colin Hay acoustic
album. It is not that one.

Nope....
I'm kinda glad I found it on youtube... a couple of times. So
it's out there and I'm not the only one who enjoys it, but who
is this Mofo?
It really kills me that the people that gave it to me, cut this
CD from their collection. They don't know. They just assume men
at work.

You know, it could be Colin trying a different approach both
musically and stylistically and that may be throwing you off a
bit. You have his voice so embedded that you probably just can't
"hear" it. I dunno. To me it sounds like Barry White, but what
the f uck do I know?

I tend to agree. The voice is lower, and I think not even
remotely something like Hay's would do. I've been searching
amazon, youtube and nothing Colin Hay even comes close.
It's a goddamn quest I tell ya

Just a thought...but have you ever considered calling the dude
up on the phone and playing him the song and asking him about
it? It's a long shot, but if it works, you will have an awesome
story to tell. And while you have him on the phone, get him to
join Penny Can.
