       Apps
By: Mac Date: January 6, 2012, 3:12 pm

So, I am soooo new to apps, but so far loving it.
       What are your favorite apps?
       and why?
       So let start off...
       [center][glow=red,2,300]Zite[/glow]
  HTML http://static.phonesreview.co.uk/wp-content/phoneimages/2011/03/zite.jpg[/center]
I love this app. I will admit, my first and foremost reason for
getting an iPad was to be able to access the internet and read
things. I’ve gotten to a point that if the presentation of the
article sucks, it matters to me. Zite comes out of the gate with
an amazing presentation that easy to skim through and read the
articles I want to see. It’s rendered in creative but logical
       layout. Love it.
You also customize the content. So I have things like top news
stories, film, music, and gardening as my only subjects to
       breeze through.

       [center][glow=red,2,300]LiveStand (Yahoo)[/glow]

The only thing so far I like as much as Zite is Yahoo’s
LiveStand. There too you can customize the content. It has a
different way of presenting, but just as fun and interactive.
The content seems to have more available. I need to explore
those unknowns, which is part of the fun. I highly recommend
       LiveStand.

Curious to know, but do you access Penny Can or any of the
numerous p*rn sites with your iPad? If so, you gotta type with
the hunt an peck method when posting? I should create a new
thread in Hardware geared strictly to the iPad, but I'll ask
here. What are your thoughts of it? Is it better than getting a
       laptop or what? Pros? Cons?

Excellent question and one I've been thinking about. I would
love an app to instantly access Penny Can. Other sites as well
like Bloody Disgusting or Classic Rock. The way I do it now is I
emailed myself with the link and access it. I should be able to
have a bookmark, but for some reason that has not worked.
I do look at Penny Can through the iPad. It’s great way to read.
I find wanting to link or replicate info I’ve found elsewhere
(Zite, LiveStand, pron). Currently that’s frustrating and
requiring more work than at a computer or laptop.
I’ve read several articles already about iPad vs. laptop at home
and work. It’s an evolving thing but currently each has its
advantages and disadvantages. I’m using it for my advantages. I
       use my desktop for others.
       iPad Cons:
Typing, by far the touch keyboard makes typing difficult, let
alone a lot of typing. Holding it and typing combination just
       complicates the whole process.
Music, I would never use this to listen to the iPad directly.
The stations are coming around, and it would be cool to play the
music through my system, so that’s something to look forward
       too.
       iPad Pros:
There are many, but mobility and sharing is huge. Carrying it
wherever I want is big. Reading what I want and when. Then if
the opportunity arises to show people, it’s there.

Personally I have resisted the urge to join the iPad ranks. But
my Mom asked me to look into getting her a new Computer / Laptop
for her. So I was throwing the iPad into the mix to see if that
is a viable replacement instead of a computer. She does a lot of
Photoshop Editing and Writing as well. Can this be done on an
       iPad at all?

I imagine so, but from what I've seen, I think it would be
       frustrating and more labor intensive.
I'm hearing good stuff about the ultra thin laptops for Windows
       and Apple
  HTML http://reviews.cnet.com/best-thin-light-laptops/
       which may be a
       possible solution for her

I love this free app. It's simple, it's stupid fun and it's
free. I wish I could show you the few I've made. I've blown up
my dogs, my wife and guests. It is so fun. The incoming missile
attack and the car role are free. They just added the giant ball
drop. The others you need to pay for.
