All Things Joe Walsh...

It's about F**king time the ol boy got back to what he does
best. Play that gee-tar. I guess the Eagles are taking a break
and Joe has time to record, put out an album of his stuff and
tour with it. I love this man and his work.
[glow=red,2,300]Joe Walsh reveals 'Analog Man' as new working
title[/glow]
[quote]Joe Walsh told Ultimate Classic Rock that he has
completed work on his next studio album, which will be called
‘Analog Man’ and should be released sometime in the winter of
2012.
As he explains, “I know in the past, I’ve had screwy album
titles, but I decided to call it ‘Analog Man.’ Because, you
know, my generation of musicians, we grew up analog, and now
it’s a digital world. We had to learn it, you know? Everything’s
totally different. There’s no record companies — who knew that
would happen? They were so powerful when I was young!”
Despite the album title, Walsh also revealed, “This is my first
real experience doing my music digitally. In the old days, there
was more of a tendency to set up the band, mic everything,
record the whole band together and when you got a good take,
that was it. You couldn’t go in and make everything perfect.
Nowadays, music is constructed. Musicians come in and play their
part, and you put them on one at a time.”
Fans can expect to hear a song or two, including the title track
(sample lyrics: “I’m an analog man in a digital world / I’m
gonna get me an analog girl / Who loves me for what I am”) from
‘Analog Man’ when Walsh sets out on a solo tour beginning
tomorrow, Oct. 11 in Austin, Texas.
That is, assuming rehearsals go well: “We’re working it up now,
it’s kind of complex. I’ve never played it live, so I’m learning
it right along with the band. Just cause you can write ‘em
doesn’t mean you can play ‘em!”
You can get complete tour dates and ticket information from
Walsh’s official website. We’ll have lots more from our
conversation with Walsh for you shortly, including how he’s
incorporated Texas musicians into his new band and plans for the
Eagles’ 40th anniversary in 2012.[/quote]

'Analog Man' is produced by Jeff Lynne and features Walsh's
brother-in-law Ringo Starr on drums.[/glow]
Sure, life’s been good to Joe Walsh, but in the title track of
his new album, he admits to being “an analog man in a digital
world.”
The playfully witty singer-songwriter-guitarist is set to
release Analog Man, his first solo record since the George H.W.
Bush administration, on June 5.
“It’s been 20 years,” Walsh notes. “I have a lot to say.”
A decade in the making, the 10-track Fantasy/Concord album was
produced by Walsh and Jeff Lynne. Nashville-based Tommy Lee
James, who has penned hits for such acts as Taylor Swift and
Reba McEntire, co-wrote some of the new songs.
Walsh previewed the album Feb. 2 at the Troubadour in West
Hollywood, playing and narrating a truncated show that included
the title track and “Lucky That Way.” He was joined on the
latter by his brother-in-law Ringo Starr, who drums on the track
as well. Lynne also briefly sat in for the set, which was
bookended by Walsh solo classics “Life’s Been Good” and “Rocky
Mountain Way.”
Analog Man is Walsh’s first solo outing since 1992’s Songs for a
Dying Planet, which came out two years before hell froze over
and his Eagles reunited. “I just really feel like it’s all come
together, and finally I feel like a complete person and a
complete musician,” he says of the new record. “I think there is
some confidence in there that I never had. That’s what I was
hiding.”
A native of Wichita, Kan., Walsh burst on to the national scene
at the dawn of the 1970s with The James Gang. The trio released
three albums in 17 months, which featured such enduring FM radio
staples as “Funk #49” and “Walk Away," before he left in late
1971. Walsh released four solo albums (the first two with his
band Barnstorm) before joining the Eagles in 1975. His first LP
with that band, Hotel California, is among the 20 best-selling
albums in U.S. history.
Walsh performed twice at the 54th annual Grammy Awards in
February. He played guitar as Paul McCartney sang "My Valentine"
and later joined Sir Paul, Bruce Springsteen, Dave Grohl and
others for a medley from The Beatles' Abbey Road album.
The Eagles have eight tour dates scheduled through early May,
but Walsh has yet to announce any solo shows to promote Analog
Man, his 11th solo studio album. The disc is due out the same
day as Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s Americana, whose release
date was announced one day earlier.

As much as I love Joe I don't buy everything. He's had some real
stinkers, so in this day and age, I'm even more picky with
songs. Just hope there is a handful of songs I will embrace.
