Re: All Things Xbox...

One thing I forgot to mention about Xbox One and my reaction to
the design. It's ugly. I mean really ugly. What was great about
the 360 were the lines and contours. The shape. It felt special
and unique. Xbox One seems to have gone retro. All the way back
to the first gens of VCR's when they first came out. Big. Bulky.
Ugly. I'm curious if you can stand One on its side like you can
with the 360. From the looks of it, the answer would be an
emphatic no. Now, more than ever, my interest will turn back to
see what Sony puts out. I'm sure they will unveil and sleek
design with the PS4. Just have to wait until E3.

I've been watching E3 all day today as well as yesterday. I was
a PS2 playa before moving over to Xbox 360. So, I really don't
have a firm allegiance to one console over the other like a lot
of other players tend to be. I was somewhat disappointed with
Microsoft's conference yesterday. Clearly, the big winner of the
day was Sony. So much so that I'm kinda leaning toward getting
PS4 before I would even think to get Xbox One. I think they have
grossly over priced it at $500. I said all along that I would
buy it if they went over $400. So, I will just wait for the
price drop on that.
Eventually, I see myself owning both. Just a question of what
the plugs in the back do so. If it's possible, I would just run
one console into the other and then into the TV. If not, then
I'm gonna get really tired of unplugging one console for the
other as my mood shifts.

Another thing, I talked to an Xbox rep today to find out a bit
more regarding some of the things that were left unclear at
their press conference yesterday. It was mentioned that anyone
that joins Xbox Gold on 360, starting in July will get 2 free
games for that month. What was unclear is if it's month to month
or if you have to get a year subscription. The rep said it was
month to month and was confident in saying it was official, but
I'm still under the impression that it's a year long
subscription.
It may in fact be month to month, because in the conference,
they said the deal was only good up to the release of Xbox One,
and that drops in November. Clearly not a year from now. Also,
none of the games we get on 360 will transfer over to Xbox One,
including any and all Arcade Games you currently have sitting on
your 360. So, if there are a few games that you love and want to
continue playing, you have two options, re-pay for them on Xbox
One and / or just keep your 360 plugged in somewhere in the
house.

interesting.
Was talking with the guys at the UPS store today and my guess
for the new xbox price point was it would be $560. Now that is
not the MSRP. I knew walking out the door with the next console
people would be dropping around $560...whether that's with a 1
or 2 year warranty, an extra controller.
the price was SO predictable in fact I think I nailed exactly
what people will be spending if not about $20 more taking it to
$580 out the door/...why are they charging that price?...because
it's exactly price people would go up to...doesn't matter what
the thing costs to make.
I knew that would be what they thought an average person would
or could spend.
NO ONE would go over $600 so they took it as damn close as
possible with the extras...and trust me, it's IMPOSSIBLE to not
walk out with one thing more...a chord you are going to need,
the gold card upgrade.
F%%% these companies.
trust me I am not saying Playstation won't do the same damn
thing.

Well, I was always of the mindset that I would be waiting out
the initial impulse to rush out and buy on day one. I knew that
it would be pricey, but what Xbox is charging is ridiculous.
What makes it worst is that the parts and components of this
next gen console isn't nearly as robust as the PS4, and yet they
are charging $100 less. So, it has absolutely nothing to do with
parts, but more about how much Microsoft can "get away" with
bilking their customers.
At the end of the day, I actually see myself owning both
consoles which isn't something I've ever considered doing with
the previous consoles. Each new console offers me something that
I want, but not enough at the price that they are charging. I
can probably swing a deal for the PS4, but given the fact that I
see myself owning both, I will definitely have to sit out Xbox
One for a major price drop.....or find one dropping off the back
of a truck to take possession of it.
One last thing, I think that Xbox showed off more games that I
want compared to what Sony rolled out this past E3, which is
going to make waiting out the price drop on the Xbox even more
excruciating for me. Where do you see yourself with the
consoles?

I honestly think these game console in some ways are becoming
almost obsolete and this is a last gasp effort for both
companies with this type of set up.
a very smart business person could merge PC gaming and these
consoles and basically be the next must have item.
this is like putting a new veneer on basically a computer...but
not as good of a computer as you can buy for $600...too many
people are scared to switch over...but lets face facts.
one that does both perfectly...but appeals more to gamers...will
win. I'd have mine come out with both keypad and mouse and 2
traditional game controllers...charge $650 and have it be a 2
terabyte hard drvie with 6-8 gigs of RAM.
nuff said true believer.

That's why Microsoft is trying so hard to merge the console into
an all-in-one entertainment center. Someone, if not the Big 3,
could definitely swoop in and do the PC thing. It's just a
question of who's got the balls to go up against the big boys
and getting publishers to make games for them.

There was actually another upstart company that E3 tried to get
shut down because they had set up shop across the street and
they felt that they were in direct conflict with the Bigger
companies. They even went as far as calling the cops on them.
It's all on video. I'll dig it up. They seemed to have something
interesting going on. Hell, they were at least smart enough to
give out free beer all day long to generate foot traffic to
their booth. I'd like to see them succeed.

yeah I mean....I'd almost have the tower more like the Xbox 360
I just got...that sexy black 320 gig hardrive one...or whatever
it holds.
RAM is cheap as **** now...so pack the ****ing thing to the
gills....I am serious man...take it to at least 6-8 gigs...if
not 10-12...sounds crazy but I am telling you it's not...and a 2
terabyte hard drive would be a good start I think...I'd like for
them to opt to taking it to 3...but I would NEVER store more
than 4 TB on any one thing...way too much **** to risk losing.
then you have a remote keypad and mouse so you can do all your
gaming and computer stuff with that and for pure gamers who
ONLY use it for gaming have it come with 2 traditional
controllers....not everyone needs them...but I mean....charge a
SOLID price for this thing...I think around $650 is
perfect...it's a LOT of money...but hey you are getting all this
amazing stuff that has NEVER been offered for a gamer in one
killer package.
